fox news. The guy at Terrell campaign headquarters said all is optomistic. The guy at Laundrieu headquarters said things not as happy. Said fine line between desperate and ..so far good news.

Voted about 7 this morning here in Lafayette. Was surprised at the lack of yard signs along the street leading to my precinct. Usually it's filled with signs for both candidates, but today there weren't any. I'm not sure what to make of that.
I didn't have to wait in line, but there seemed to be a fairly steady stream coming in and out. I'll take that as a good sign because we live in a fairly conservative part of town.
Theo, behind St. Tammany and maybe Jefferson, I would rate Lafayette as probably the third most staunchly Republican parish in the state. Clinton failed to carry it in '92 and '96, and Dubya rolled in 2000.

Terrell will get approx 8-10% of the black vote....

Exactly and guess who won't cooperate to change that system? But this last Government has been so bad that even some of the east is waking up. Quebec will NEVER be a player. They are just a blood sucking, rebellious Province that Canada could well do without.

There is still time for the Dems to run Mondale

That is what Dems want you to believe, and if they have to, they will claim the blacks stayed home, and formerly non-voting whites voted instead to take their places, rather than admit how many blacks actually voted for Terrell.
What would you say if Republicans own internal not for publication polls showed Terrell not just at 19, but over 20, pct of black vote?

Then, too, the cemetary votes haven't started coming-in yet, either... Then there's the story of the Chicago precinct captain - a Demo, natch - whose last wish was to be buried within the city limits. The lad wanted to stay active in politics.

I'm rather amazed that with all the black vote/white vote conflict, New Orleans race relations seem good. I've been visiting for decades and NOLA is always a paragon of civility; the Blacks there are much more pleasant, less bombastic and angry than in West Coast cities, it seems to me.

Fox News report at about 2:45 Pacific Time sounding optimistic for Terrell. Major Garrett said "There's a fine line between enthusiasm and desperation" (paraphrase) and that it feels more like desperation at Landrieu HQ. Garrett and Carl Cameron both give the impression, though cautious, that things are leaning Terrell's way.

I would say good for the blacks...

I voted in Shreveport around 1:30 today. It was a steady stream of people. The ladies running the pol said it was light voting between 6-9 but picked up a lot after that. I know so many people who did the absentee voting so Suzanne has already gotten a LOT of votes. There were long lines during the absentee voting time and I know they were mainly voting for Suzanne.

Fox news was just on with its latest report. Voters are still staying away from the polls and Carl Cameron was smiling as he gave his "fair and balanced" report.

" I wonder how many Democratic Administrations have been bogus over the years?" I wonder that myself any more, especially since I got involved in the voter fraud issue. Although I was living in Virginia at the time of Carter's election and everybody I knew was psyched up to vote for Carter. I had never seen anybody in my family favor a Rat candidate before that. I think it was the good ol' honest southern country boy image that rallied so much of the south in his favor, even in areas that traditonally were not democrat.

Well, if Terrell gets 10 percent of the black vote and even if the black vote is at historically high levels (26 percent of the total LA vote, which would match when David Duke ran for governor), she still wins if she can get as "little" as 64 percent of the white vote (which would be 74 percent of the total) 2.6 percent + 47.5 percent = 50.1 percent. Given Bush's 71 percent approval margin in the state, its do-able.

What is an eight-letter word which means, "I have reason to doubt the veracity of what you have just said."?
To: crystalk
Internal polls... How about the end result and there'll be very little guessing as to the turnout percentages and to a large extent how they voted.

He has a shot at being Gov Breaux. We still have enough conservative yellow dog Dems who'll vote for him comee hell or high water.

The first time I was in Canada was when deGaul came there and stirred up trouble calling for a free Quebec. That was in '67. Maybe they should have gone for it huh?

I think since the Reagan years tho that the Democratic machine made a consciencious decision to develop a fraud strategy and an agressive one at that.!! I don't believe Clinton would have been in a second term if it weren't for fraud.
