Voted about 7 this morning here in Lafayette. Was surprised at the lack of yard signs along the street leading to my precinct. Usually it's filled with signs for both candidates, but today there weren't any. I'm not sure what to make of that.

I didn't have to wait in line, but there seemed to be a fairly steady stream coming in and out. I'll take that as a good sign because we live in a fairly conservative part of town.

Theo, behind St. Tammany and maybe Jefferson, I would rate Lafayette as probably the third most staunchly Republican parish in the state. Clinton failed to carry it in '92 and '96, and Dubya rolled in 2000.

Caddo, Lafayette, and East Baton Rouge parishes were the first to elect Republicans to the state legislature -- in the 1960s. Tell us why Lake Charles is more Democrat than Lafayette.
