Did you see voter fraud and what is the talk about exit polling and the possible outcome?

I don't know how this will turn out but I do remember Fox saying the same thing about the exit polling long into election night a few weeks ago, after it became apparent that some senate races were going solidly to the Rs (Colorado, Georgia, NH). I suspect they are doing this for two reasons: 1) the egg on the face the networks got from wrong exit polls in the 2000 presidential election; and, 2) the fact they have special coverage at 9:00 this evening that no one will watch if the result is foreordained.

The Rats' drag and drop technique may not work so well on a Saturday right before Christmas either. Lots of people won't be home. Many may be out shopping and many more have other things going on. I would think it would be far less a prediction factor than on a normal election day.

I saw several of those signs posted at a couple of intersections today. They had "paid for by Republican Party of Louisiana" printed at the bottom.

NEWS FLASH!

I just got back from voting in my home parish (St. Bernard) then taking the family to lunch uptown. In the 9th Ward along North Claiborne and again on South Claiborne, both primarily areas with black residents, there were many Landrieu signs, and 2-3 people on corners holding Landrieu signs.

A couple of large South Claiborne intersections, including the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd. were among those with the Landrieu signs, and I believe the ML King intersection had a Landrieu supporter there.

HERE'S THE BIG NEWS:

In the midst of all the Landrieu signs, and in one case, a Landrieu sign-waver, were an almost equal number of signs reading as follows:

IF YOU DON'T
RESPECT US
THEN DON'T
EXPECT US

I was amazed, and so very pleased, to see this! I think it speaks VOLUMES to see such a statement being made in the heart of a predominantly black section of New Orleans! I believe (and hope) that the black community is indeed realizing that they have been taken for granted by the Dims, and perhaps this is the start of payback time.

There was a name in small print at the bottom of the signs which I'm sure stated who paid for them. Unfortunately, I was unable to read it.

I figured everyone would want to know about this, so I jumped on my computer the moment I got home.

Terrell will get only 10% of the black vote which shows up to vote......

I thought I read somewhere that stated that Landrieu needed 95% of the black vote to win...

Say, for example that whites constitute 80 percnet of the voters and Terrell gets 60 percent of their vote: .60 x.80 = 48 percent. If blacks vote at 20 percent of the voters, and she gets only 10 percent of the black vote, this creates a tie with Landrieu (.10 x.20 = 2 percent, add 2 to 48 = 50 percent. If, on the other hand, Terrell gets 20 percent (verrry unlikely) of the 20 percent of voters who are black and stays at 60 percent of the 80 percent of voters who are white, then she wins because .20 x .20 = .04, added to .48 = 52 percent of the vote. This is why relative turnout is very important and why Terrell must score probably 63-65 percent of the white vote to win.

Because Cooksey, Terrell, nd Perkins split the conservative vote. Landrieu only took like 18 parishes with a majority.

"They wait 'til late evening without reporting, find out what kind of margin they've got to overcome, and if it's even remotely doable, they manufacture however many they need and report in at the last minute to put the RAT over the top."

That is one practice that needs to be stopped by whatever means necessary. It is a serious opening for fraud. The law should require that NO counting begins untill ALL votes are in AND not subject to tampering and NO reporting should be done until ALL votes have been counted.

Hi Libby: I'll check out that thread in a minute. But I think the political questions answer is, at least from us in the Western part of Canada is that we have long ago given up on getting anything of value elected here. Our votes in the West literally don't count because of Ontario and Quebec. HOWEVER, there appears to be some winds of change. Chretien has turned out to be SO BAD that I think once he rams Kyoto through and destroys Ontario's economy, they will stop electing Federal Liberals. That way we stand a definite chance of having a say, Canadian Alliance (very conservative and smart) Government. We could probably count on the bulk of Ontario seats which is huge. Even the Eastern papers are printing negative articles against the Liberals and that is really something. I had to laugh the other day, Ralph Klein the Premier of Alberta just next door to me in B.C. said on the news: Chretien can ram through gun control and Kyoto just don't expect Allberta to enforce it!! FOFL. B.C. is the same. on the freeoples thread, I got Mo to post the results of a gun control poll they are taking in my area. Look at it!!!

OK, a more mundane report:

At my polling place in St. Bernard, it wasn't crowded when I went (1PM.) I asked about the turnout, and the poll workers said it was steady, and that in their opinion heavier than in November.

This probably is a good thing, as here's how St. Bernard voted in the primary:

Landrieu 7792
Perkins 913
Terrell 7430

Total Republican vote 9628

No, because why is it fair that we have to come up with several times as many votes consistently to overcome their fraud canceling out our votes? The answer is to close the loopholes that make fraud easy and effective. May not be easy to do, but in the long run it is the only thing that will be effective, otherwise they will just come up with better and more blatant ways of overcoming our legitimate wins.

Say Terrell gets 65 percent of the white vote and white voters are 75 percent of today's Louisiana electorate (.65 x .75 = .49). That gives her 49 percent of the total vote and she can get just 5 percent of the 25 percent of the voters who are black and still win (.05 x .25 = .013, when added to .49 means Terrell gets slightly over 50 percent of the vote). The three key variables are thus: 1) the relative turnout of whites and blacks; 2) the percentage majority Terrell can muster among white voters; and, 3) the percentage Terrell can get among black voters, even if its in single digits.

I had another Canadian quite some time ago say pretty much the same thing as you. He lived in Alberta. It was back shortly after the 2000 election. He said that Canada was a good example of the problems that come about when you don't have the electoral college and how the biggest part of Canada isn't represented.

It's rather oxymoronic to think that the US sends Carter to third world countries to "oversee" the elections and try to prevent fraud. Good grief. I wonder how many Democratic Administrations have been bogus over the years? It would probably be a lot of them.
