I know. I just saw it and I feel like dancin' a jig. We need to pray for more like him.

I just caught the end of it, and didn't get any details.

I know he's going to appeal. and call out the national guard

I keep wondering what happens if he refuses the "order". Do they send the U.S. Marshalls in? Homeland Security Officers?

and call out the national guard

He's a judge, not the Governor.

Good for him. Now... for your viewing pleasure, the Surpremes. Let's hope they have an ounce of sense on the issue.

We need to do more of this civil disobedience ala the days of the Civil Rights movement. Can't you picture the outrage of the public at seeing some storm trooper dragging the Ten Commandments out of the courthouse. It might even start a revolution!

I've had enough. Thinking of Ten commandment T-shirts.

Now, what would happen if someone stopped me and asked which ones I had broken?? Oh, oh!!

Yes, he's right. The power's not granted to the Federal Government by the Constitution belong to the States and the people. One of those powers is the establishment of religion ("CONGRESS shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion..."). At the time of ratification, many states had religious tests for their leaders... and it wasn't unconstitutional. As a State official, he can be as religious as he wants to be with no Constitutional problem.

He's right to stand his ground and uphold the backbone of our laws. He's right in principle and right in practice.

I assume this will get appealed to the US Supreme Court. If they rule against the Alabama judge, what is the USSC going to do to enforce their decision? They don't have an army....

If they don't show sense, they'll have to ditch all that "God save this honorable court" stuff.

he's the (elected) chief justice of a state supreme court. the idea that he should listen to a lower federal court judge probably appeals very little to him.
