A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

The guy's good, folks!
Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~ Mixer |

Oh, my goodness. Thanks, gals! Didn't even remember that today is my fourth anniversary with FR! No wonder I feel so good!
I have great vibes on the election day after tomorrow. What a wonderful "anniversary present" it will be for me and for all of us if our wildest dreams come true Tuesday. Will be glued to FR all night!

Heartfelt thanks for the lovely anniversary rose, Billie. The rose is my birth flower. My gem stone is the pearl which keeps me in good standing with the FR Ladies Guild, LOL!

Thank you, Aqua, for the Sunday hymn!
I have a small real life story about a piano to relate.
My mother's parents both were children of ministers, my grandmother graduating from Columbia College in music in 1895 and then taught school.
Her father was an associate pastor at the Washington Street Methodist Church, a stone's throw from the capitol building of South Carolina in Columbia, and my grandmother played the piano in it.
My grandfather was a minister, too, and when they married in that church in 1898, her father helped officiate.
Fast forward to recent times, to the small town of Summerton, SC where my sister has a home, and the Episcopalian Church there.
Anne was instrumental in purchasing that very piano for them three years ago!
Lovely to have that piece of family history where we can see and appreciate it.

Hi Billie! Glad we're both here as well, and thanks for the rainbow comment Mama_Bear! I was actaully worried this moroning when I tried to log on and FR was down - shivers, dreadful! LOL
Last night I went to the KVI Face Off at the Panteges Theatre in downtown Tacoma. (An elegant old place.) There were two of the very popular conservative on-air hosts, a Seattle Times colunmist, Phil Talmage, and Jim (Baghdad) McDermitt. It was really interesting and friendly as well- almost the entire room was made up of CONSERVATIVES. How pleasant for a change. Lots of FReepers showed up and I saw a few of my parents friends, and a couple of mine as well. We all sat in one row and had a great time.
McDermRAT was booed by a handful when he came in, not so nice but understandable. However, he soon lost my sympathies when he used incendiary language against President Bush and the crowd responded with grumbles, shouted out commments, etc. Kirby, the conservative talk-show host tried to shush the crowd, but I'd say under the cricumstances that we were well behaved. Conservatives have sat by while we've been ridiculed in the media, cheated with vote fraud, attacked through "legal" maneuvers, watched the country overrun with illegals... I'd say the group last night was ready to "rumble" if given one more straw of provocation. I couldn't blame them. It wsa a good event and nice to not be in the minority again.

Good Mornin' all. I'll be doin' some catch-up with my reading, but wanted to say 'Howdy.'
Howdy!
I posted a thread today about my Marine vet friend and his 3 fellow honor guard members that were invited, then denied the opportunity to present the colors at Friday nights Golden State Warriors game. Our vets are crapped on by everyone.

Good Sunday afternoon everyone. I'm torturing myself today watching all the talk shows with election predictions....Tuesday can't get here soon enough...Many prayers that our president's efforts lead to a republican sweep!

That is awful. Everyone should write and send e-mail to the Warriors to let them know our feelings about these type of actions.
