What is Moose saying about our freedom, the nation???? Moose had that look that Julia Roberts had in Sleeping with the Enemy and that Jody Foster had in Panic Room, when cops came to the door, and the perps standing out of view had them at gun point, telling them what to say. Both characters had to appear to look calm and tell the cops "No, everything's okay. I don't know anything," while pleading with their eyes that everything's NOT OKAY.
Face it, we've all heard repeatedly over the past year these same phrases about "resiliant Americans," "threatening our freedom," etc. Moose has heard these phrases and he knows we've heard these phrases. HE KNOWS WE'LL UNDERSTAND WHAT HE'S SAYING. He's telling us this is TERRORISM, be it domestic (unibomber) or foreign (ME).

Chief Moose does look defeated; the strain definitely showing. While I don't doubt for a second Moose is feeling great strain his demeanor today might be an intentional false signal to the Killer that they have no evidence or witnesses that could lead to his capture. Perhaps they are hoping, by looking defeated, that the Killer becomes over-confident and makes a careless mistake. They also could have eyewitnesses as to cars moving around in the area at the time of the shooting and are keeping these facts close to their vest. Just a wild guess.

I found myself in a Marriott hotel with ONLY CNN Headlines News the day the Starr Report came out. NEVER AGAIN! I *never* go anywhere I don't have "access" now.

The fact that the local investigators and one would assume the F.B.I. combed the wooded area behind the Ponderosa Steak House, yet the snipper had to call them and lead them to a note he had hammered to a tree, doesn't inspire confidence either, and no one is mentioning it.
I can just immagine that conversation..."Hey, Mister Policeman, go back and get my note". Even though the sniper acts as though he is playing with inept children, the fact that the note was missed had to have shocked even him or he wouldn't have made that call I'm guessin.

Some of us (rolling eyes heavenward while feigning innocent expression) have installed a speaker in our kitchen so we don't miss a WORD while preparing food or fetching food from the microwave.

You are not alone. I heard his prepared statement read early on in the news conference, and immediately thought he was obliquely referring to terrorists, not a lone nut or pair of nuts. It seemed as clear as day that he was talking about something much bigger than the DC/Va shootings, at least to me.
I found myself wondering why the journalists didsn't pick it up. I wonder if they will, when they run the tape over.

LOL - my family and I were in Austria a few years ago - CNN was the only English-speaking channel that we could get on the tv. I remember flipping through the channels and Larry King Live was on. When I said out loud to one of my sons, "Thank GOD for Larry King", my then 15-year old son looked at me as if to say - WHAT are you talking about, Mom - and knew that I had totally flipped!!! (He knows I never watch LKL or CNN hardly at all--so I guess that officially makes me a news junkie, for sure)
I STILL can't believe I said that!!!

"Some of us" have considered installing a speaker out on the deck........LOL. I can SEE the TV from there, I just cannot hear it!
