IN IRAQ THE HOME OF PATRIARCH ABRAHAM BEING EXCAVATED
BAGHDAD, October 11, 2002. /from RIA Novosti
correspondent Pavel Davydov/. -
The Department of Antiquities of Iraq is starting a second stage of excavations of the home of prophet Abraham in the town of Ur /380 km to the south of Baghdad./ The town, known as the biblical Ur of the Chaldees, dates back to the remotest antiquities. In the time of Abraham, it held the leading position among other cities. In the time of Ur-Engur and Dungy-Ur the town covered the territory stretching from Persia and the Mediterranean sea and was considered to be the most marvelous city of the world. That was the centre of crafts, agriculture and navigation. The lands that surrounded the town were traditionally considered to be the Garden of Eden. They were famous for its fertility and richness.
Later the waters of the shallowed Persian Gulf went to the south and the Euphratus having changed its direction, flew 18 km to the east of Ur. Eventually the town lost its significance, was covered with sand and forgotten. The first excavations of Ur were started in 1922 by English archeologist Leonard Wooley and continued for 12 years. Ancient temples, tombs and schools were discovered. Not far from the main temple, situated on the upper platform of the rectangular temple /in Mesopotamia they were called zikkurats/ built according to the model of the Tower of Babel, residential houses were discovered. One house was different from the others by its size and luxury. Thousands of clay tables that contained economic, law and literature documents and other historical sources found there suggest that this house belonged to Patriarch Abraham, who is supposed to be one of the leaders of the tribes.
The total area of the site where the house of Father Abraham is situated is 2,200 sq.km. The excavations were conducted in one half of the house. Several rooms, corridors, staircases going to the first floor were discovered. A small garden was adjacent to it.
The experts of the department of antiquities of Iraq want to restore the half of the house excavated by Wooley and then to start to clear the second half.

The British Museum scores again.
you know you are at The Big Time.
This new knowledge made possible translation of the 23,000+ Assyrian Tablets, also at the British Museum. These tablets contain valuable history about what happened to the Lost Tribes of Israel who were in Assyria at that time. It was not until these archeological discoveries were made that the Lost Tribes could be found. It's all part of the plan...
Well, maybe in retrospect. But if they had all spoken the same language to start with, cracking the codes wouldn't have been necessary. {ggg}. But then that would have goofed up the tower of Babel scheme, etc....
