One may interpret facts one wishes, but it seems a stretch to claim that supplying facts relevant to a topic are in any way attacking folks on account of their skin color.

I disagree. There are facts not worth knowing, facts that don't solve or enlighten any problems, the dissemination of which does nothing but enhance discord between peoples. Knowledge is a means, not an end.

Don't be stupid. Poverty isn't THE cause of crime, but only a fool would say it isn't one of several contributing factors. I don't pretend that culture isn't at least as signficiant. But if you're rich, you're not going to mug a pedestrian for $20.

First, look at the title of this thread. Second, poverty and lack of education doesn't cause crime rates to go up and cannot account for the fact that blacks commit violent crimes 50 times more than other races (when adjusted for proportion to population). Third, there is a REAL problem in the black community (illegitimacy) that is exacerbated by drug use, government handouts, and especially other blacks who simply cannot stand to see someone make it out of the 'hood. Many politicians also need to keep blacks poor, uneducated, and dependent on the government as their power base. If a credible person had brought up Farrakan's "Day of Atonement" idea, it might have worked. All it ever was to Farrakan was a chance to grab some headlines, money, and power.

Poverty and lack of education do cause crime rates to rise. But maybe not as signficantly as the presence of a culture that tolerates and even glorifies crime. A large percentage of the US black population suffers from all three traits. I don't think its any secret that poor white (or black or Hispanic or whatever) neighborhoods tend to have more crime than rich white (etc.) neighborhoods.
