The deputy head of the Metropolitan Police has launched an attack on political correctness, saying that society cannot ignore the evidence that most muggers are black.

...Mr Blair pointed to the American example set by the Reverend Jesse Jackson, the former US presidential candidate. "We need a Jesse Jackson," he said.

Expect a swirl of convtoversy surrounding this from the PC crowd in London. Mr. Blair (Ian) really needs to acquaint himself with the reality of Jesse Jackson. If after that he is still keen, he should invite Jackson to move to London. On second thought--forget the move to London.

Where did Blair get the idea that Jesse Jackson solved any crime or black youth problem? Also does he really think that the Black people in this country really believe that Jesse Jackson is relevant? He has been protesting and preaching for years and hasn't made a dent in stopping Black crime. Actually he is always sticking up for the worst of the bunch. Most Black people I know think Jesse is a hypocrite.

A couple of years ago, when I stated that the number of violent crimes committed by blacks against both whitee and blacks was far, far, out of proportion their numbers, I was attacked mercilessly by some of the PC police here for daring to state a fact that most of us already know. (Yes, they ARE here, just not to the extent of other boards.)

When I posted a very comprehensive Dept of Justice page proving my point complete with charts, graphs, and links, the silence was deafening.

FYI, almost half of all violent crimes are committed by blacks. And most of their victims are other blacks.

Several years ago, perhaps when he was running for president, Jesse Jackson made a widely publicized comment that even he, when he walked down the street at night and heard someone walking up behind him, was relieved when he saw the person was white.

Undoubtedly, that comment is what Blair has in mind when he praises Jackson.

The claim by the author really needs to be put in perspective. The author fails to point out the black population in London (and the UK generally) is miniscule. Thus, a tiny portion of the population is responsible for a whopping 63% of the muggings. In New Orleans, where the black population approaches 80%, one would not be so surprised by this figure. I think Londoners need to insist on an "equal mugging opportunity" program.

If you pull up statistics showing black vs. white crime rates as a way of demonstrating how the relative poverty, lack of educational attainment, frequent idealization of the "gangster" lifestyle, etc. among black Americans raises crime rates, that's one thing. But if you just publish statistics in order to attack folks just on account of their skin color, maybe you've found the wrong forum.
