A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Chairman_December_19th_Society
Freeper since August 22, 2000
I first met Chairman when, as a "newbie," I stumbled across the daily thread entitled "America - The Right Way!" (AKA "ATRW") Chairman is the one who is responsible for making sure the thread is posted every day. If you happen to drop by his home page, Chairman has the following explanation posted as to the origins of his screen name: Meaning behind the December 19th Society:
December 19, 1998 - A GREAT DAY TO HAVE BEEN A REPUBLICAN!!
On that day, the GOP House ensured that Wilhelm von der Schlickmeister Blythe Klintoon would have his proper place in history by making him the first elected President ever to have been impeached and, collaterally, causing Vice Perpetrator Algore to remark that Klintoon would be remembered as "one of our greatest Presidents."
Good fortune smiled upon Free Republic a few days before Chairman joined. For some unknown reason his "normal news sources" were unavailable, so he "went poking around" the Internet and stumbled upon Free Republic. He lurked for a few days until he finally couldn't stand it and signed on to make his first post. He has never looked back!
Chairman was born on January 20, 1959 on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. His Dad, who was enlisted in the Navy at the time, was stationed there. Chairman grew up in a small, one-traffic-light town in Dutchess County, upstate New York. He describes it as being a "very right-wing Republican area." He moved away to attend college, eventually graduating with a BS degree from Jacksonville University.
Chairman followed in his Dad's footsteps and joined the Navy. He served for five years, eventually winding up in New Orleans, LA. "Three hurricanes and three years later," he was on the move again, eventually settling down in the Washington, D.C. area. He has lived and worked there since 1987, not allowing the "rank corruption and liberalism" to get the better of him. Chairman credits his success with either his natural stubbornness or his belief in God, or perhaps a combination of the two.
Chairman and his wife will be married for fourteen years this coming January. They have two children, one in junior high school, the other in elementary school. The children have demonstrated to him that they know there is something "inherently illogical" about liberalism. Chairman is sure that this means they have learned to think for themselves and to apply their own logic. He hopes they will share this gift with others in an effort to "help a little piece of America."
How can we ever forget the "36 days from hell" as Chairman puts it when, back in 2000, we didn't have a clue as to who would be our next president? Chairman recalls this time as an "epiphany" for him. Up until then, he wasn't entirely sure about the existence of God. He believed in his heart that if God did indeed exist, He would not allow the evil forces controlling America to continue another 4 years. His prayers (along with those of countless others) were answered. George W. Bush became the 43rd POTUS and thus convinced Chairman beyond a shadow of a doubt that God not only exists, but that He is looking out for the United States.
It was during this time that Chairman also discovered that "Free Republic was much more than a place to vent - it was, in a way, its own "political action committee." According to Chairman, it was right here on Free Republic that many legal discussions, opinions and possibilities were fervently discussed during those "dreaded 36 days." He is sure that much of this conservative ammunition found its way onto the Republican battle wagons.
Chairman and his two children at Death Valley
At the beginning of his tenure at Free Republic, Chairman spent most of his time posting to a thread called, "USA vs Clinton" as well as many others. When Clinton's time was up, so was the thread's. Many of the regular posters wanted to keep the thread going, so it was at this time that Chairman stepped up to the plate. That was 21 months ago and the day that the "America - The Right Way" thread was born. Chairman does not like to think of it as "his" thread, however. He prefers that ATRW is looked at as a thread where good-minded conservatives can gather. As he puts it, "I just set the table for coffee and trust that people will show up for conversation and a bit of fun."
Chairman says that he has never run for political office nor does he have the desire to do so. He already feels that he has the "most awesome responsibility that anyone can have in a federated constitutional representative republic - and that is the title of 'voter'." He feels that being in office would take too much time away from his family. With 9 hours spent at work plus a 2 and a half hour total commute each day, that is too much time away from his family as is.
Chairman firmly believes that "if we all can just share our logic and our belief of a good America for all of her people, we can all affect little corners of the country which will add up to a glorious conservative victory over the forces of despair and evil."
That's what it's all about here at Free Republic and Chairman_December_19th_Society is one of our shining examples.
Please join me in welcoming another deserving FReeper to FR's Finest... Today that Finest is Chairman_December_19th_Society!

LOL! I know what you mean - I'm always taken aback a little when I'm posting from the Self Search page and I hit the back button after I post it and it takes me back to the comments page instead of the thread!

Mix, you are so special to keep adding special things to the Calendar! I like that seeing the photo when you click on the name. Of course, if they don't HAVE a photo, then maybe the profile page? You're great to do this! When I have the time I add whatever I can to the calendar. I am just really glad everyone seems to like it so much. I will do what I can to make updates to it.
Mixer and jw, hard to find the words to thank the two of you for the friends you've both become to all of us here.
I am glad to have found this thread and to share parts of my days here with my FRiends.

Also been doing some laundry and house work. Hubby actually had to do some work yesterday, the light switch on the ceiling fan broke and he had to replace the switch.
