From a Washington P&$*&#@! article:

"Police are on the lookout this morning for a white van that was reportedly seen leaving the Prince William County gas station where a man was fatally shot last night. Investigators are trying to determine whether the shooting was the act of the same sniper who has been linked to eight shootings in the Washington area in the past eight days."

If the van was at the gas station, what does WMAL's "apparently from a distance" mean? Either the van drivers didn't do it or they did but they aren't the shooters their looking for. Of course, this IS the Washington P&$%#@!, so I guess we'll have to wait and sort through the facts whenever they emerge...

I don't THINK the victim had a mustache and your dad's pic shows he does. However, it's difficult to tell from the pictures posted on FR. Please go to the link provided by previous poster(s) and look at the pictures - I think you'd recognize whether these pictures are of your dad or not. God bless.

Doesn't even register as reasonable guesswork.

Thank you and you're welcome. Could be two teams of two - sometimes operating independently. Could be two sleeper cells or a group of supremists. Might be there's a competition between two groups (as suggested on via e-mail on Fox by someone) and hence the calling card to start differentiating which group gets which hit. Could be Moose has been finding calling cards all along and they were going to hold all that back to weed out the nuts who confess to killing Kennedy.

I wasn't really trying to be a smarta**, but wondered if indeed these are pictures of the victim, does that person who was approaching vic remember or see anything of interest?

Rain would help deaden the sound, have no meaningful effect on a bullets flight. On the other hand poor visibility and or wet optics could make a shot more difficult.

Maybe, but may fear for his or his families life. Info may be kept private by police. If I were to witness one of these shootings, I'd want to go incognito myself. I'd certainly ask them to keep my testamony secret.

I agree with the possibility of two cells operating now, hence the possibility of a new weapon being introduced.

Think when they went south to Fredericksburg area, it was a safe harbor for the weekend. One group of two went back up north on the east side of DC and made the hit on Monday and a second group is starting north on the west side of DC and made the hit on Wednesday. Tuesday was a "watch the news day for them).

It's just what I'm seeing......

The card may be the trigger for the second group to start (anticipating that we would put it out).

Thank you for the link to the pic. The man (victim) seems to have lighter hair than my Dad.
My shaky partial relief doesn't really mean that much considering this man is someone's missing loved one. This craziness need to be stopped.

I heard that and didn't think that seemed very likely. Upon second thought though, it raises some intereseting possibilities. I've been listening to the Smerconish broadcasts with Jayna Davis, who is logically and methodically laying out evidence that the OKC bombing has an Iraqi connection. One of the tips that came into her local station just after the bombing related to a group of Iraqi men that worked together for a property management company. The four of them were out together on April 17 (the day the truck was rented) and when news came over the radio about the bombing on the 19th, they all high-fived the event together.

I believe you were the one who suggested that the times and days of these shootings (with several exceptions) have tended to be during rush hours and on work days and that the van might belong to a business (it was also reported to have black lettering). What if a group of individuals did work for the same employer, thus having access to the same vehicle and even the same weapon. A "competition" then becomes possible among that group with the facts that we know.

All that said, however, the existence of the tarot card makes me believe that this is probably not Muslim-related, although I am certainly not ruling that out. It is coming in the midst of Congressional movement to a resolution on the situation in Iraq. Maybe that's not coincidental; I just don't have a strong opinion on that--yet.

More than two in a van...Too confusing, unnecessary and if caught, they lose a whole group. Thinking of Atta and gang..going about in pairs generally.

Meanwhile, authorities say they are searching for a white van seen driving away from the location of the Manassas shooting. Police have been searching for a white vehicle in connection with the shootings last week.

Cynderbean, I used to live in Charlottesville and when I went to DC, I never went near Manasses, if that's any assurance. Also, I heard this morning that the victim was 34 years old.
