Dittos, I noticed Peter Jennings doing it on Inaugeration Day!
I don't watch those bastards so I didn't know the others are doing it also.

I think you're a little oversensitive... as far as I can remember it's always been ok to call the President "Mister". What gets me is when they just call him "Bush". That's rude.
Well, whats really rude is when they call him shrub, dumbya, etc.etc. but that's another topic for another thread.

I think when addressing him, it's proper to say "Mr. President".
To: STARWISE
The title "Mister" is proper WH protocol and has been for many years. Even the Wall Street Journal uses this title and I would find it hard to accuse the editorial board of that daily liberal.

They are trying in their petty ways to insult the President. Shows how very petty they are and how they live for their pettiness.
Ignore it and don't notice. It will show them that we don't pay attention to their stupid little games.
In fact, I had barely noticed until you mentioned.

What did Forest say?
"Ma Mom tol' me that stupid is as stupid does!"
What else should you expect from these low lifes?

Presidents have always been addressed as "Mr." so that's perfectly okay from an etiquette point of view. However, "Mr. President" is also an option, but one rarely used by the press when dealing with Bush, as far as I can determine.
And in third person references, either "Mr." or "President" is acceptable - but I'd bet the press only uses "President Bush" when there's absolutely no way around it.

As far as I know "Mr. President" and "Mr. Bush" are fine. Technically, the former emphasizes the office, the latter the current holder of the office.
What creeps me out is how the talking heads, even on Fox, refer to Al Gore as "Vice President Gore" or "the Vice President". Sorry, I must have fallen asleep. What ever happended to Cheney? Isn't he still the VP? I thought it was customer to refer to former Presidents and VP's as "the former President", "the former Vice President", etc. When did that change?
To: STARWISE
As far as I can remember, I never referred to Clinton as either "Mr." or "President." I think either is okay for President Bush, but I tend to use "President." I guess many of us use "President Bush (43)" when we need to distinguish between the president and the former president. I don't watch the mainstream media enough to know what they are doing.

Seems like nearly every liberal pundit, and many Congressional Democrats refer to the President as "Mr. Bush" on TV. Rememeber that Bill Clinton infamously set the example by referring, in a 1992 debate, to George Bush using this name in his presence, a remarkably insulting gesture.
The WORST is the liberal pundits who referred last week to "President-elect Gore": "He IS the President-elect, he just hasn't been sworn in yet", a Democrat state legislator said last week.
Democrats are committing sedition and treason on a daily basis, but don't expect old softies like Lott and Hastert to call them on it. As David Horowitz has said, Republicans do not have the "fire in the belly" required to defeate Democrats at their own game.

I've noticed that they've been doing that for quite a long time.....they just can't stand to think of him as their president.

What's worse, is that the media often just refers to our President, as "Bush." They still refer to Clinton (deliberate no title/no respect) as "President Clinton," and the man has been out of office for 18 months!
Those of us who respect President Bush refer to hime amongst ourselves as "dubya" or in my case, just "W." But in formal terms in the public, George W. Bush, President of the United States of America, should be referred to as Mr. President, or President Bush depending if these are verbal or written references.

I wrote to CNN a while back about this.
They do it ALL the time. Could be my
imagination, but seems to be a little
sneer in there too.
