A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Presenting.......
One of FR's Finest
RedWing9
Freeper since June 15, 1999
RedWing9 told us he began his posting career during the spring of 1999 (after finding FR from Drudge in September of 1998), when he couldn't take reading the Y2k bunker propaganda anymore. He said he just had to sign up and contradict what he considered misleading and dangerous posts. From then on, he couldn't resist getting in the middle of other threads and making sure his point was heard. Something his wife will attest to!
RedWing9 -- RW9 for short -- was born in 1966, in a little town called Farmington, MI. After spending 31 years in the Detroit area, he moved to the Chicago area to court and marry his wife. He has worked in the computer industry since his sophmore year in college, learning everything from COBOL programming, to mainframe operations, to network design. On January 15, 2001, he was blessed with a handsome baby boy which they named Preston, making his life even busier AND better! PRESTON even has his own website. :)
At home in Chicago, RW9 leads the Chicagoland Chapter as President, following in the footsteps of the original Chicagoland Chapter leader, diotima. The Chicagoland Chapter is not unlike many FR chapters: a large membership with a few activists. But nonetheless, the task at hand is enjoyable. He also takes the time to volunteer at church, currently redesigning the school's computer room.
Protesting tax day during sleeting weather! TheRightGuy, RW9, diotima, March I up
RW9 wants to make sure everyone knows, his moniker is not an effigy to Gordy Howe, but rather the 9 represents the month of his birth!
As you may have guessed, RW9 is a big Detroit Red Wings fan, and since moving to Chicago, he's not only a Conservative in a Leftist State, but a Wings fan in the land of Black Hawks.
If you are wondering why you might not see him posting a lot, he said there's a good reason for that. RW9 said he just doesn't feel the need to post an opinion twice. If another FReeper was faster on the draw with what he intended to say, he's content to be silent.
RW9 being interviewed by CBS affiliate during City Year Clinton Freep
It's a pleasure to present another of FR's Finest! Today that Finest is RedWing9!
Thank you, RW9, for stepping into our spotlight!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer |

Last time I had a flat tire, I pulled my truck into one of those side-of-the-road gas stations. The attendant walks out, looks at my truck, looks at me, and I SWEAR he said, "Tire go flat?" I couldn't resist. I said, "Nope. I was driving around and those other three just swelled right up on me.

"Okay - I'm laughing - am I sick?? "
If so, call a doctor; we may have an epidemic.

Our dear Angel Wolf claims he can smell gardenias when I'm on a thread.....LOL True!
However he didn't react until I flagged him...so maybe his unusually keen olfactory skills are weakening???
When LouieWolf gets sleepy, his olfactory's and everything else shuts down. LOL
He had an unusually rough day. Too many wolfettes...too little time. : )

YOU HAVE TO BE ITALIAN TO APPRECIATE THIS, OR AT LEAST HAVE BEEN IN THE COMPANY OF THEM FOR MANY YEARS!
Do you know why most men from Italy are named Tony?
On the boat over to America they put a sticker on them that said TO NY.
You know you're Italian when . .
You can bench press 325 pounds, shave twice a day and still cry when your mother yells at you.
You carry your lunch in a produce bag because you can't fit two cappicola sandwiches, 4 oranges, 2 bananas and pizzelles into a regular lunch bag.
Your mechanic, plumber, electrician, accountant, travel agent and lawyer are all your cousins.
You have at least 5 cousins living in the same town or street.
All five of those cousins are named after your grandfather or grandmother.
You are on a first name basis with at least 8 banquet hall owners.
You only get one good shave from a disposable razor.
If someone in your family grows beyond 5' 9", it is presumed his Mother had an affair.
There are more than 28 people in your bridal party.
You netted more than $50,000 on your first communion.
And you REALLY, REALLY know you're Italian when: Your grandfather had a fig tree.
You eat Sunday dinner at 2:00.
Christmas Eve . . . only fish.
Your mom's meatballs are the best.
You've been hit with a wooden spoon or had a shoe thrown at you.
Plastic on the furniture is normal.
You know how to pronounce "manicotti" and "mozzarella."
You fight over whether it's called "sauce" or "gravy."
You've called someone a "mamaluke."
And you understand "bada bing
One of Amy's Italian in-laws sent me this!
Heh Heh Heh
She didn't think I'd post it!

Good Morning,Pippin....TGIF
To: JustAmy
Hi Frank-I am actually visiting relatives who have an Italian grandma and we had a wonderful pasta dinner the other night made by an 85 year old lady who immigrated from Italy when she was a wee one. The sauce was so good...no Ragu or Hunts in her pot...lol...
I cannot wait to show her your post...I especially liked the one about why a lot of Italians are named Tony...lol.....
To: daisyscarlett
Being married into an Italian family for almost 45 years, these hardly seemed like jokes.
My MIL made the best gravy; made her own tomato sauce and pepper paste. My FIL always planted a huge garden with lots of tomato and pepper plants. He also grew his own basil, oregano, parsley and probably other herbs that I've forgotten. Seeing the time and love that went into those pasta dinners made me appreciate them all the more.
There is a large Italian population in Fresno and I think half of them are related to us. LOL
Tell the Italian grandma that us Italians in Fresno said Ciao!
