Explosion at Freeport Texas chemical plant

Posted on 09/13/2002 8:23:48 AM PDT by newsperson999

lots of smoke..they said it may be a railcar but it looks like more than that..I saw at least 2 areas where smoke is rising..30-40 yards apart..it looked like a small sturcture on fire as well as the railcar

I don't believe how much crap you are getting for thinking that an explosion on Sept 13th, Friday, in Texas, might be terrorists.

Gee. Someone can read! Thank you for being considerate enough to read and use your brain. =] I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. LOL! I think it's from my prior history. I'm always speculating at possible patterns. Drives a lot of people nuts.

And like I said, Bush wants to keep people calm. He will do all that's needed to keep the radioactive ship, the three caught in Florida, and anything else as quiet as possible until after the election, and maybe even forever. People here are doing their duty for the country, to keep the public calm. But I hope that a few people out there are keeping notes for historic reasons.

my 0% wager is based upon live news coverage from the site and from the industry. while i can't think of any scenario where i believe the government, that doesn't mean that we cant draw conclusions based upon evidence.

since there was a release prior to the explosion that means the tank car was defective, either from design or mishap. the tank cars are stored in areas which are very far away from people and surrounded by other tank cars. i dont thik anyone has reported seeing 3 middle eastern men running through the storage yards.

even if they were there, i doubt if the tactic they would have tried is opening a valve on an ammonia tanker.

to make a long story short, these sorts of things happen not quite routinely but frequently. if we were not under orange alert this would be a purely local story and no eyebrows raised.

Here is a place where you can search for incidents on the "Chemical Incident Report Center" link. Put in "Houston" "Pasadena" or "Freeport" in the search engine.

http://www.chemsafety.gov/

Of course, it is a government website, so it's all lies. But it does hold some entertainment value.

i am willing to wager that there is 0% chance of connection to terrorism.

What country are you living in? 0% chance? The sad thing is, I doubt we'll get the real story even if it is a terrorist act. It's better for the government to keep us feeling safe and working. That keeps the taxes coming and the economy working, after all. I just wish we could really "know" the truth about everything. Just because they say "minor injuries" doesn't mean it is so.

As a former Boeing Employee with a decent understanding or airline mechanics and the manufacturing process, I can personally vouch for a number of "cover ups" and "bogus" stories the government used to explain plane crashes and explosions.

I doubt the Bush's were involved in this...but 'you never know'...:

Ehem..... what about an enemy of the Bushes? I didn't say that GW did it. That would be very looney if I had. Thought people would insert 'enemy' into the formula as a matter of course. So, what are the daily odds of this happening?

This was 2 days after 9-11, on a Friday the 13th, the same day that terrorists said would be a date we would mourn, a popular day for terrorists to pick.

only about every 55 years or so.

I felt the Brenham pipeline explosion of 1992 in Houston -- 80 miles away. Reports indicated that the Brenham explosion was felt over 150 miles away.

It happens more often than you think.

"i dont thik anyone has reported seeing 3 middle eastern men running through the storage yards."

And here I thought folks were supposed to have an open mind here. I always suspect anyone who automatically says its not "Terrorist Related", might want to wait and see don't ya think? Now as for the statement I have quoted from you, If I am not mistaken a few "Terrorists" were other then Middle Eastern Persuasion, I.E. Latino/Hispanic, are you now going to say Texas has no one of Hispanic origin? Or that there were never any Hispanic folks walking anywhere near the tanker?

I bring this up because now they are saying the 3 men in the cars in FLA might be Hispanic. But of course we still have to have a open door policy in regards to immigration. One final note, The idiot(s) in the INS/FBI/Local law who let the two Middle Easteners out on 5000.00 bond in Baltimore, MD ought to at least be brought up on conspiring with the Enemy.
