A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

It's A DOG'S World
"I am the proud owner of a 2 yr old Mini Daschund named Sadie. I am an animal lover - dogs mainly; hence my screen name. The name I wanted was taken....Mad Dog....LOL!"
Dog
FReeper since 01-05-00 New Mexico
The photo above is the only picture Dog has online, but what fun it was to put him in other places! Look at him below! He should have been a young man living in the 40's instead of now; the ZOOT SUIT was made for him! (pictured below with FReeper HiJinx in a 40's Fashion Thread posted at the Canteen earlier this year)
Dog was one of the first males to join The Guild; since he's always loved researching and investigating things, it made him an ideal candidate for the Men's Auxiliary group of the Investigative Guild. See his photo below, relaxing in Howlin's family room, where the group met every day.
Currently, Dog's favorite thread is America, the Right Way, and though you will find him there most every day, he still makes time to browse FR for other threads offering the latest news, or humor (people need to laugh more nowadays, he says).
Dog ISN'T an Elvis fan, IS a Bush fan (oops! he didn't want me to mention that. LOL....too late! It's okay though, because this is a Bush friendly thread), and he told me that Elian was the reason he came out of lurker mode and became an active FReeper.
I guess we can say, "Thank you, Elian and God Bless you." And to you, Doggie, I say for all of us......
You're one of FR's Finest!

Mrs. Broomfield's dishwasher quit working, so she called a repairman. He couldn't accommodate her with an evening appointment, and since she had to go to work the next day, she told him: "I'll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I'll mail you the check. By the way, don't worry about my Rottweiler. He won't bother you. But, whatever you do, do not under any circumstances talk to my parrot!"
When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Broomfield's apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Rottweiler he had ever seen. But, just like she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business.
However, the whole time he was there, the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant squawking and talking. Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled: "Shut up, you stupid bird!"
To which the parrot replied: "Get him, Brutus!

I'm not a Rottweiler but I can be vicious!

Howdy! I thought most folks would appreciate seeing this great article re President Bush!
Lights out at 10pm for Bush party guestsExcerpt:
Since he first ran for president, George Bush has portrayed himself as the "anti-Bill Clinton", and his social life is no exception.
The administration has just published the list of guests invited to spend the night in the White House since Mr Bush assumed the presidency 20 months ago, and the contrast with his predecessor could not be more striking.
Where Mr Clinton ever the social climber, even in the most powerful job on earth -- played host to a steady stream of celebrities and power-brokers from the worlds of politics, academia, business, publishing and Hollywood, Mr Bush's circle has been folksy, intimate and almost wilfully devoid of glamour or intellectualism.
Most of the 160 people who have spent the night since inauguration day have been old friends or golfing partners from Texas. Scratch around the list for well-known names, and the best you can do is Ben Crenshaw, the golfer; Kinky Friedman, the Texas singer- songwriter turned author; and a couple of minor-league country music artists. No Barbra Streisand or Warren Beatty almost nobody, in fact, that Mr Bush has not known for years and already considers his personal friend.

"Mama_Bear and Amy beat me to them"
You got to the cookies first!
On the other hand, if there are any cookies to be found, Mama_Bear will find them. Now when it comes to margaritas ...... well I can sniff them out as easy as she can.
