Actually I would vote Norman one of the three best towns in Oklahoma.

Give me credit for having put your state up at no. 11 out of 51. Few others but me would have noticed that, except of course for you who live there and love it.

No, Southwest Florida is centered at Fort Myers, home of SW Fla State University. Other major cities in SW Fla include Port Charlotte, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Naples, and Venice.

Those last two factors are rapidly being taken care of. Then look how perfect we will be.

All American, All English speaking, and Half the Cost of Living, in a generally milder and outdoorable climate, with far less crowding.

Blacks may be from 3rd world ultimately but have been here a long time and are Americans now...

Why in the world do you assume that I was referencing anything to do with blacks?

Granted there are certain parts of Tennessee & Kentucky that have some likable qualities but not enough - in my opinion - to make the top 10.

How Mississippi makes #9 on your list I'll never know -- and I've been all through Mississppi and part of the "Third World".

Actually, the best parts of Fla climate-wise, are a one-mile by 360 mile strip down the Atlantic from Fernandina Beach to Key West. Surprisingly non-humid if you stay near the OCEAN, not the Gulf. And avoid the interior.

But as I said, Florida now is so culturally and economically superior, that climate can be thrown to the winds.

Sorry, but NM and AZ do not have nearly identical weather. The entire SW half of AZ, including Phoenix and all its vast and populous stretch, is MUCH HOTTER IN SUMMER THAN ANY PART OF NEW MEXICO...

In fact, except for the Las-Cruces-El Paso region in the S Central area, not much of New Mexico is really hot in summer at all.

And only one or two towns in AZ, like Flagstaff, are cold in winter like the whole N half of N Mex is.

And, surprisingly, average rainfall in New Mex if anything is LOWER than that in AZ.

If there is a 21st century, Miami will be its cultural and economic capital. What Chicago was in 1880, New York was for awhile, LA was for awhile, Miami is to be.

I would rate Texas #1.

No, Texas is awful! It's especially terrible compared to a wonderful state like Pennsylvania. All you people from Pennsylvania would hate Texas. Imagine having to cheer for the Cowboys, instead of a nice green team like the Eagles. And it's so hot! Not nice and pleasant like Philadelphia!

Note to austingirl: Geez, Louise! You want all the pond scum from up North drifting down here?

They have to leave them running, if they didn't they would freeze up and couldn't be started till May.

No, not pond scum from the North, but more FReepers would be okay, LOL.

Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Money magazine rated it #3 in it's list of "Best 100 places to live (U.S.)

Who compiled this listing? You?

"First, look at California's governer. That ought to tell you something about more than half the voting public"

Just stay away from Los Angeles and San Francisco! Those two cities accounted for 80% of Al Gore's margin of victory over Bush! The rest of the state is nowhere near as skewed.

Beautiful coast, rock bottom cost of living, lovely climate except for a few weeks in midsummer, lots of land for a little, great higher educational system, great private schools, extra low taxes, your very address irritates liberals.

Cajun food readily available, not far from New Orleans.

Get a great 2000 foot home, already fixed up, not a fixer upper, often pre-WWII and unique, for say $125M.

Not bad for New Jersey, but cold, crowded, expensive, tax-ridden. But do note that I put NJ at #37, not 51, and even one place ahead of California.

You ranked Massachussetts too high :)

Upstate New York is conservative and beautiful. If they could, they would separate from NYC and thus lower their tax rate.

That's a lie about Florida. As I look out of my window, I cannot see the houses across the street as it is raining so heavily. Down here we have alligators that will steal your children out of their cribs. The black bears will car jack you without giving it a second thought. Also, the Janet Reno gang will kidnap you and hold you for ramsom and when it's paid they will leave you naked in DisneyWorld.

That is only the tip of the iceberg...Please don't come to Florida, we are also overcrowded.
