Yea Brad! But you forgot to mention the 100 below zero wind chill days....I spent an extra night in minn/st. paul because the pilots couldn't see the runway through the driving snow storm.....

Too late, I already have. Over 13 years now on this stretch, and also lived here before.

Well, now IF it had central heating, and less snow, Buffalo would be like Miami!

Corrupt government, sky high taxes, rust belt, decaying housing stocks, steady decline in population and jobs, baja Canada. Potholes you could lose half of Florida in.

If I had to live in NY state, I would take Ossining or West Point or Beacon, Newburgh zone (not town)...love to see that ole Hudson, just so it between April and October. And just so I don't own any real estate to be taxed, or income there either.

31. Maryland [Avoid area within 25 miles of downtown DC or Baltimore.]

Aw, geez my state sucks! Well it does especially with all the speed bumps in Montgomery County!

Actually it wasn't meant for you personally, but for your readers. But you know how the place is changing.

Baja Canada! LOL.

I like REAL upstate New York - anything 50 or more miles west of Albany. But you do have to like snow though.

50. Vermont [Taxes and enviro- wackos. Hell freezes over, with maple syrup and socialism.]

Vermont is not that bad. It is the only state in the union where you can carry your gun concealed without a license or a permit.

If you want to know why California is rated 3rd world, spend a week touring Los Angeles County. You will have your answer! I advise having an armored vehicle in Watts and Inglewood.

Don't think they'd pay to bury me if I ventured in there and got shot.

Sure they would! Thousands of people go there every day and never get shot. It's a great little city, so small that you can walk everywhere. Boston I like, Cambridge they can keep.

Ohio [Avoid the city limits of largest 6 or 8 cities]

Too true--nice thing here in central ohio is we only live 11 miles from the heart of the city, yet we are in farm land in another county(nice for taxes). I love it here. We actually moved from AZ to OH--much nicer place to raise a family here, love the seasons, but the homeschool laws are more restrictive--grrr!

Used to live in Florida too and the Northern part of the state is like, well, another state than the Southern part. North Florida is like walking into Georgia or Alabama--lot's of southern accents, nice people, lot's of land--really lovely.

"2. Georgia [Avoid areas within 35 mi of Atlanta center; better not too close to AL line.]"

Thanks for the high ranking. But why not too close to Alabama? Especially around the I-20 corridor?

Land is $1,500/acre, EVERYTHING is cheap,we don't drink sulfur water, people are nice, my front door hasn't been locked in years, and I can be in the city of Atlanta within an hour.

As far as the Atlanta comment goes, I can agree with that to an extent. But, to make any kind of decent wage, you have to work close to Atlanta.

I have to disagree with the low ranking of California. It's weather and location alone merit at least a top ten.

An the pity of it is, no criminals to shoot there either!

Neighborhood empties Sunday morning for services.>>

Isn't this nice. We experience this in our little alcove in central Ohio as well. Stores are quiet most of the day on Sunday--well maybe a little busy, but not until mid afternoon--3ish, well after services. Roads are absolutely quiet on Sunday except for when church is going on and then it's only into and out of the parking lots;-) You'll rarely find a garage sale on Sunday(something I'd never seen in other places I'd lived) I'm thinking for the same reason--people are busy at church on Sunday morning.

Entre todos los estados de la Republica, a Alta California no creo que puedo dar un numero tan alto como un diez. Quizas veinte.

Entre los estados norteamericanos, quedo con lo que he dicho. Treinta y ocho, ni mas no menos!
