S.F. Judges Ordered to Cut Ties to Scouts

SAN FRANCISCO - Don't try to be a judge in San Francisco if you work with the Boy Scouts. Judges in San Francisco are being barred from associating with the Boy Scouts because of the Scouts' opposition to homosexuals being in leadership positions.

The new policy, adopted by the city's Superior Court, prohibits the court's judges and commissioners from participating in any organization that excludes members "... on the grounds that their sexual orientation renders them 'unclean,' 'immoral' or 'unfit.' "

Bob Knight, director of the Washington, D.C.-based Culture and Family Institute, said the policy is ludicrous and offensive.

"In other words, the Boy Scouts are supposed to be so evil for protecting boys from homosexuality that you can't be a judge if you have anything to do with them," Knight said.

National Scout spokesman Gregg Shields said the Boy Scouts will take no action since it is not directly affected.

"In a piece of irony here, the people who are aggrieved or the people who are having their rights trampled here would be the judges themselves," Shields said.

Nonetheless, he called the policy "indefensible" and "inappropriate."

"The judges of the court are supposed to be devoted to fairness and impartiality and respectful treatment of all who appear before them," Shields said. "And yet, they've chosen to publicly reject lawfully held private views."

In fact, attorney Brad Dacus with the Pacific Justice Institute, a religious-liberties group based in Citrus Heights, Calif., argues the new restrictions go far beyond the Scouts.

"We're dealing with a policy that prohibits judges' involvement or participation with any organization that teaches homosexuality as being immoral," Dacus said.

There's a move to take the policy statewide in California. Dacus' group has offered to represent any judge who objects.

The judges are not to associate with the"BOY SCOUTS"because the BOY SCOUTS believe in being moral.HA!The judges just condemned themselves with that statement because it infers that THE JUDGES ARE THE ONES WHO ARE"UNCLEAN,IMMORAL OR UNFIT"!This is understandable, all you have to do is look at how the courts are run in this country.

I wish we could take California back from the socialists.

I wish we could take all of America back from the socialists.

For a good start, let's begin with the parts of it where you and are standing. I look forward to the addition of other liberated zones as well.

Thus, obviously, the Court is insisting on a religious test to hold Office--no one can be a member of a believing Christian or Jewish denomination or congregation, and serve on the Court. If the ACLU was not a Fabian Socialist device intended to undermine American institutions; that is, if they really believed that Government should be neutral on religious issues, as they pretend--it would be all over this decision. But I would not hold my breath.

This is really a preposterous edict, but then it comes out of San Francisco.

I would at least hope that the anti-Boy Scout judges are not being paid with taxpayer money; that they are volunteering their time and "talent" free of charge. I especially hope that no federal money of any kind, in any amount, is going to these people. I don't pay California taxes but I do pay federal taxes and I don't want any of my money going to those people.

Now, I've had to go back to work again. Someone else will need to take up my slack while I build up my coffers again.

Well you may not be able to write the longer more thoughtful posts you do so well, but you can still drop in and comment! Look forward to seeing more of you. The debauching of the polity of the beautiful city on the bay is just one more example of the need for your work.

Once we started with tossing out liberal CA (where I believe Gray Davis will score a huge victory in November), we would have to include OR, WA, HA, WI, VT, ME, MA, NY, RI, CT, MD, NJ, and maybe MN too to be consistent.

Is there anyone, gay or straight, who would insist that the Girl Scouts, or a girl's HS sports team, or a class from an all-girl's school, have unaccompanied overnight (or multi-night) sojurns with unmarried heterosexual male volunteers? Of course not.

Did you know that a Girl Scout leader can be a lesbian? Girl Scouts didn't put up the fight that the Boy Scouts are. I greatly respect the Boy Scouts. I made it to Life Rank myself.

I am going to have to give this organization some money since they have lost so much $$$ on lawsuits against them.

Just another example of legislating morality away in the name of "tollerance". God Help America..

Passing it on...

>>Did you know that a Girl Scout leader can be a lesbian?<<

Yes, I did know-I also know that no parent in their right mind (I have two boys and three girls) would allow their daughter to participate in GSA.

In addition to the risk (small) of lesbian seduction, there is a strong, overt anti-masculinity (heterophobia) which can poison future normal relationships even in the absence of lesbianism.

This group of judges cannot hear a case that has anything to do with Boy Scouts of America. Haven't they just excused themselves from all issues that may come before them in the future or anything before them now?

The ex EPA chief under Bill Clinton was Carol Browner. She had a life partner in San Fran. Calif. that was a female judge. They were together on a float in the "GP" parade. I am wondering if Browners female partner had anything to do with this move?

This will never stand. Why the peasants do not rise up like in one of the old thirties movies and remove the oppressors is the sad part.

Same with public schools.
Thanks for giving us one more good reason to remove our children now.
