Which State is the Armpit of America?

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.
They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.
Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?
Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.
Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

District of Colombia even if it's not a state. It even pollutes the surrounding states within a 50 mile radius.

While I am in agreement that the City of Buffalo is a hole, much of the surrounding suburbs and points South and East are much easier on the eyes. I will, however, nominate the region as having some of the dopiest people in the U.S. The Dems have literally destroyed this area with their policies and corrupt politics, yet the dimwits living in the Western NY region still mindlessly vote many of these same people into office over and over.

What redeeming values can be found about Illinois?- Ronald Reagan's birthplace.
- DuPage county.

But I nominate Chester PA as the crown jewel of east coast slums. Close but no cigar! Chester could never compete with Camden N.J. which is right across the Delaware.

Hey, Hollywood does have a few redeeming values. Namely, the Roxy and the Whiskey!

Massachusetts. And I live here. Smells bad. Ted stopped using deodorant in '89.

California is an anus, contained within an armpit. The anus is Hollywood. What a shame that a few good conservatives have to live in such a socialist climate.
Another California bashing thread. **sigh**
I would like to point out once again that about four and a half million Californians voted for GWB. That's more than a few, Bud. That's more people than live in most eastern states.

Your moving from California to Oregon???? That's jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Ha! Mr. Inspectorette are in that boat. We live on the Central Coast of California, about an hour north of Santa Barbara. About eight years ago, we bought a little house on the Central Coast of OREGON, where we are planning to retire in about 3 1/2 years.
We've already decided we're not gonna sell our house here until we've lived in Oregon a couple of years and are sure we want to stay there.
I sure agree with you about the "physical, God-given beauty", but it seems as if the same nutjobs that ruined California are now busy destroying the Pacific Northwest (Washington State, too - awesomely beautiful, but they've got (ugh!) Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, almost as bad as Boxer and Feinstein :-(

Sh, don't tell the Left. They believe that the beautiful soon-to-be Senior Senator from that State, John Edwards, has enough slimness, hair, and teeth to offset all the rest.
Beauty is as beauty does, and North Carolina is full of friendly helpful people who love God and America.

But, Califonia does have one redeeming county...Kern County. Talk about an island in a swamp of muck. Kern County is about as conservative as you will find in the U.S.

Will the feds do their job? I doubt it. Santa Barbara does remain one of the nicer places. I remember when I used to show horses are the Earl Warren fairgrounds, what a great town it was. I think Calif is doomed.

I have often thought that the Chicago skyline and the architecture in general looked better than in NYC, but there is good architecture in a lot of big cities. You just need to know where to find it!
Yes, many beautiful old buildings downtown, not to mention the Museum of Science and Industry, which is housed in the only remaining building from the 1893 (?) Exposition. No visit is complete without seeing the U-505, a WWII German U Boat that was captured by the USA and from which they recovered the enigma machine and top secret documents.

So? What if you happen to dig sister on sister action?
Tennessee can boast the birthplace of Jack Daniel's.
N.C. can boast the birth of aviation.
Nevada can boast the happiest place on Earth.
California can boast the home of porn.
Big deal.

I've heard that the most liberal voting precinct in the country -- yes, in the whole country -- is the Fremont district of Seattle. I believe it. They were about to put up one of those Lenin statues that were being brought down to loud cheers all over the former Soviet Union a few years ago. Not sure if they did, but it would have fit their image to a T.

I have always wanted to visit Louisiana - the tour was heading to Baton Rouge the day after I left to come home for a while. I'm looking forward to visiting that state!
