A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 07-26-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

ONE OF FR'S FINEST

Teacup
"Caption this Photo"
If you see this, either as a comment or a new thread post, chances are good that Teacup is the author. And chances are also good that you are viewing a photo of one of the Clintons. Like most FReepers, Teacup does not have a high regard for the former First Family. Her outrage at Pardongate helped lead to the founding of The Ladies Investigative Guild of FR. (now known as The Guild). A charter member of the Guild, she continues to post there frequently. She also posts at and visits various other threads.

Teacup has been a FReeper since 11-04-98. Among her FReeps are Sore Loserman rallies and FReeping the Creep at the White House. While she is almost always cheerful and fun, don't let this or her screen name fool you. She is not as delicate and fragile as, well, a teacup.

She is a proud American of Hispanic descent, raised in the barrios of Southern California. Despite the fact that both her father and uncle (WWII veterans) were Eisenhower Republicans, she began her college years as a self-described "hippie and Liberal". At age 19, she became a single Mom. In her own words: "It's amazing how quickly you grow up and become conservative when you are all alone and have a baby to raise." In 1980 she became a born again Christian and credits the Lord with changing her life.

She is proud that she raised her daughter with no help, Government or otherwise (other than Medical Aid and that was only for a short while). She worked during the day, went to school in the evenings and eventually obtained both an AA Degree and a BS Degree.

She was employed as a Licensed Social Worker for many years. Her accomplishments in the field of mental health and substance abuse counseling are vast and include writing substance abuse programs for many California schools (she was trained at Betty Ford Center) and helping start one of the first Rape Counseling Centers in Southern California.

She has lived in California, Texas, NJ and Virginia and has a wealth of lifetime experiences.

Don't even think about making a racial slur or stereotypical remark when she is around and if you are foolish enough to engage in a flame war with her, well God love ya.

Remember the television sit-com called "Major Dad' with Gerald McRanney? The premise of the show was that a single Marine Corps Officer married a lady with three children so he became an immediate Dad and used Marine Corps methods to keep the household in line.

Well, Mr. Teacup is a real-life Major Dad. Except he is a retired Marine Corps Lt.Colonel. He and Teacup have been married for 13 years and, while he did not share in the raising of Teacup's daughter (Freeper mini-teacup), he thinks of her as his daughter and her four children as his grandchildren. Three of these four grandchildren have been making their home with the Teacups for the last several weeks due to an acute family crisis. So their household is a "Colonel GrandDad" type home these days.

For an example, last weekend Teacup related how he got them all up early on a Saturday morning and the whole family went on a three mile hike. Does that sound like a script right outta Major Dad or what? Especially when the kids came home and took a long nap after devouring a mess of chocolate-chip pancakes prepared by Grandma.

Teacup not only opens her heart to fellow FRiends, she also opens her home to them. Pictured above at an April cookout in Teacup's bucolic home in the Virginia countryside: Teacup in center with Mr. and Mrs. G'nad on left and Mrs. and Mr. Mudpuppy on right.

TEACUP, TEACUP, TEACUP

Mornin', everybody!

Roe vs Wade

A blonde was sitting in class when the professor asked her
if she knew what the Roe vs Wade decision was.

She pondered this weighty question and finally answered "I
think that is the decision that George Washington made prior
to crossing the Delaware".

Thanks bahbah. Teacup is a FRiend of mine and Billie's so this profile was a bit more personal but with Teacup's blessing and input. She is real proud of her background and loves to share her stories of single motherhood in the hopes that it will "help" others.

Thanks to you both. I can't wait till Teacup gets "on" and reads the messages from all her FRiends. She had planned to be here all day today but a family situation came up but she will be here a little later. And knowing how giving Teacup is, she will probably tell us why she had to leave and how it came out.

I am so glad you got to post that beautiful graphic before you left on your outing. I did not get the thread posted till 3 A.M. pst because my cable was down at 11 p.m. PST. I stuck with it till midnight then fell asleep; woke up at 3 a.m. pst and posted it right away, no problemo.

Teacup I know you were counting on the thread being posted by 3 a.m.EST and I am sorry it was not. How frustrating it musta been for you to get up early and then only to not find us.....I apologize---

I LOVE YA, TEACUP!!

This dear lady was one of my very first friends on FR!
I made a hesitant post one day about spending some time in Camp Pendleton, and that was all it took for us to become good buddies.
Nowhere will you find a more loyal friend!

We have shared a lot!
A big {{{{HUG!}}}} to you, Tea!!

Good morning....Thanks for getting here "early" and for those wonderful teacup graphics....Teacup is so excited about being "it" today and looks so forward to seeing the thread later. She wrote us when something came up absolutely necessitating that she be away for most of today and Billie, our ever gracious hostess, wrote her back and told her it was fine and to just think about the wonderful reading she will have awaiting her when she gets home or to a computer....

Thanks for the coffee. I sure do need it today. Are you anywhere close to Teacup? You will get an invite to her home if you are. Heck, she invites her FRiends who are just passing through the State so get ready for a fun day at the Teacups....Do you like home brewed beer? That is Mr. Teacup's hobby these days...

Hi Teacup! I have to chime in with COB.....you were one of the first people I met here too! You were still in Jersey then and we connected because of the Marine Corps!

I can't think of a nicer person to honor..........best of luck to you and your family

Teacup has 4 doggies that she adores-shi-tsu's (I need a spellcheck, hee hee). One is pictured and I will post more photos of her doggies as the day progresses.

Also, I did not include this in the bio-but she has lost a significant amount of weight(it would be rude to say how much but I will bet she tells us later) and that is why she looks "different" in the first photo than she does in the last photo which is how she looks now....

I love the graphic of the three teacups...

Would make a nice card to teacup from we three hostesses. If only there were an artist around with time to add Billie (center teacup of course) and Mama_Bears and DaisyScarlett's names to this....Hint, hint, very broad hint...lol.
