UNC Makes New Freshman Read Koran, Disgusting!
The FOX News Channel

Posted on 07/07/2002 7:25:12 AM PDT by ukwildcat

I just watched and listened to something I can't believe is happening. In a country where we have the 9th Circus court telling us we can't say "Under GOD" in the pledge of allegiance, we have state funded universities making it mandatory that all incoming Freshman read the "koran". Somebody help me understand why North Carolina would make this a mandatory study. Here we are going out of our way to take GOD out of everything possible but yet we let the islamic terrorist "peaceful" religion a mandatory read. I'm so mad I can't even write this peace coherently right now.

No, no, no. They are not required to read the Koran. They are being required to read a book about the Koran. The question is, what's the bias of the book?

You know the answer to that question. It's a peaceful religion.

Oh well, that makes all the difference in the world. I would like to see if I could get a university to mandate a book about the Bible.... They all would be crying separation of church and state. Furthermore, why do we feel the need to "understand" these maniacs? I don't remember anyone trying to "understand" Hitler and why he did the things he did?

Here would be my suggestion of a good book about the Koran

It was Brit Hume, last night I think, who reported on this. He said he thought it would be better if students were required to read the Koran itself rather than a book about the Koran. In the Koran students would read verses like those that warn Muslims not to be friends with Jews or Christians.
Adolph Hitler and WWII do not compare to this situation at all.

The US Naval Academy had (cold war?) signs in all the dorms back in the late 70's in the dorms; one saying was along the lines of "Know Your Enemy -- He Knows YOU!" Perhaps that can give you a little comfort -- if incoming freshmen can read the infamous passages (as another poster stated) directly that talk about killing infidels &c, then as a society we can be a little better innoculated against the "religion of peace" BS.

I should head over the 1/2-Price Books for that.

Andy Rooney thinks,
Anyone who's worried about what's happening in the world ought to read some of the Koran because it dominates the lives of 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, many of whom are unfriendly to us.

I think his analysis is pretty good, even if he works for the evil eye (CBS).

In light of 9/11, this is yet the most chilling evidence the Republic and it's institutions of "higher learning" have already surrendered the America of Washington, Madison and Adams at the altar of of Marx, Farrakhan, and Steinem.

Are there any more subversive and treasonous entities in America at the moment than are the deans and faculties of 90% of U.S. Colleges and Universities?

I certainly understand your reasoning, but to make this a mandatory reading for all incoming freshman to a state funded university? Why can't they just "offer " it as a class if students choose to take it, along with a book about the Bible? heh, heh....

A publically funded university has NO business making any religious study, or study of religion, mandatory.
This is liberal, PC, feelgood BS.

The last I heard was that it was UNC-chapel hill that was doing this. As a resident of NC if I were a freshman or one of my children was enrolling in UNC I would be calling my lawyer.

Last week I went out and bought a copy of the Koran and started reading it. I want to see for myself what's true and what isn't true about Islam being a religion of peace.

I also bought The Fecderalist Papers, which I never read before. I'm saving it for the five-hour plane trip from Boston to FRiva Las Vegas.

We need to be more understanding and accepting of other poeples culture and religions and if you don't like it we will force it up your asses. Sounds like America to me.

First never listen to the press. My understanding is that freshmen are required to read a book about both the Koran and a book about Christianity. Not the Koran or the Bible itself. The program is designed to render an awareness of both religions. This is being done on many campuses today. My problem is two fold. Which books? And who is teaching this? Not that it is being done.

This came out a couple of months ago, I remember FOX covering it, a couple of local radio stations here in Raleigh discussed it, but then it just went away. Correct me if I'm wrong CD but nothing was ever done about it. I do remember listening to Jerry Agar and one of the instructors called in. He himself hadn't even read the book and sounded sort of like a subsitute teacher.

From your link:

The god of Islam is a demon who appropriated for himself the name of Allah. By means of deep religiosity and devotion, this Allah has bound more than a billion Muslims in religious slavery, barring them from the gift of salvation in Christ. Indeed he has vaccinated them against understanding the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Very interesting. Thanks for the link.
