A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Julie,   Julie,   Julie!

She flies the Florida Flag, and flies it as proudly as she does Old Glory. Below is a recent photo of JulieRNR21 with Katherine Harris, taken at a neighborhood coffee for Ms. Harris' Congressional Campaign. Julie is very active in helping to get, and keep, the Republican candidates in office.

I first met Julie on another political board before either of us found FR. If you're fortunate enough to be on her mailing list, you won't miss a good article on FR, a poll that needs bumping, or a petition that needs to be signed. Julie has been affectionately dubbed "The General" by one of her good friends, ST.LOUIE1, because of this photo, right, which was used in a collage for another thread. (BTW, Louie says she's the only one in all of FReeRepublic who can keep him in line.) : )

Well... Since you asked...

A man had great tickets for the World Cup final. As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No," he says. "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible!" said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the world cup final, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"

He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first world Cup Final we haven't been to together since we got married."

"Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative, or even a neighbour to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head... "No. They're all at the funeral."

Sorry the fish weren't biting "there"; they were biting "here". In fact, Mr. Daisy brought home some catfish filets for me to pan fry tonight....Let's see what shall we have with them....Maybe some coleslaw, baked potato, hushpuppies, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake with whipped cream for dessert......There's plenty. Would you like to join us?

I tell you what. Since I haven't been on these threads enough (house renovation keeps me busy nowadays), I'll post one more today. It's a little bit ribald but only a little and I find it's funny enough to make up for any indecent parts. Here goes:

An elderly couple is enjoying an anniversary dinner together in a small tavern. The husband leans over and asks his wife, "Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind this tavern where you leaned against the fence and I made love to you."

"Yes," she says, "I remember it well."

"OK," he says, "How about taking a stroll 'round there again and we can do it for old time's sake."

"Oooooooh, you devil, that sounds like a good idea," she answers.

There's a police officer sitting in the next booth listening to all this, and having a chuckle to himself. He thinks, "I've got to see this...two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so's there's no trouble."

So he follows them. They walk haltingly along, leaning on each other for support, aided by walking sticks.

Finally they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence. The old lady lifts her skirt, takes her thong off and the old man drops his trousers. She turns around and as she hangs on to the fence, the old man moves in.

Suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the watching policeman has ever seen. They are bucking and jumping like eighteen-year-olds. This goes on for about forty minutes! She's yelling, "Ohhhh, God!" He's hanging on to her hips for dear life. This is the most athletic sex imaginable.

Finally, they both collapse panting on the ground. The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life that he didn't know. He starts to think about his own aged parents and wonders whether they still have sex like this.

After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on. The policeman, still watching, thinks "That was truly amazing! He was going like a train. I've got to ask him what his secret is."

As the couple passes, he says to them "That was something else! You must have been having sex for about forty minutes. How do you manage it? You must have had a fantastic life together. Is there some sort of secret?"

"No, there's no secret," the old man says, "except that fifty years ago that damn fence wasn't electric".

........

Hope that one didn't offend anyone- I don't think it did. Wait till I have to start reaching into my bag of jokes I learned in the military ;-)

Thanks. This lady in S Africa, we met her while we lived there- scuba diving buddies. She has us on her mailing list and apparantly she is the hub of the universe from which all these jokes flow. I figure I might as well start spreading the wealth that she's been sending all this time :-)
