A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 07-02-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Julie,   Julie,   Julie!

She flies the Florida Flag, and flies it as proudly as she does Old Glory. Below is a recent photo of JulieRNR21 with Katherine Harris, taken at a neighborhood coffee for Ms. Harris' Congressional Campaign. Julie is very active in helping to get, and keep, the Republican candidates in office.

I first met Julie on another political board before either of us found FR. If you're fortunate enough to be on her mailing list, you won't miss a good article on FR, a poll that needs bumping, or a petition that needs to be signed. Julie has been affectionately dubbed "The General" by one of her good friends, ST.LOUIE1, because of this photo, right, which was used in a collage for another thread. (BTW, Louie says she's the only one in all of FReeRepublic who can keep him in line.) : )

And psssssst! here's something else I just learned as I was getting the link to her profile page:
JULIE IS A FOUR YEAR OLD FREEPER TODAY!

It's Your Day, Julie! Have a great one!

..I wanted to sneak in the Pledge right under your wonderful post. ..

I know what you meant here. Know it for sure. Please, next time tuck it in boldly. We are so proud of America and love her dearly. So grateful for our liberty, freedoms here.

I proudly salute the flag as I fly it on my house every day. I am so thankful for the service personnel who protect those freedoms, sometimes with the ultimate price. It is always a high price they pay.Their familes pay a very dear price, also. My thanks to them.

Let's Roll! God bless America, please.

I hope so, too. I know he was disappointed about missing out on the first of the thread for you.

Yes, hasn't FR grown and grown since we first knew it. It's amazing how Jim's vision took his beginning forum where anybody could post as any name they wanted (even his! as one of them often did!), say almost anything they wanted. There were food fights then, just as there are now though! I'm very proud to have been here through much of it. I didn't go to the March for Justice, but poured over every thread and every picture when they all came home. :)

A motorist driving by a Texas ranch hit and killed a calf that was crossing the road.

The driver went to the owner of the calf and explained what had happened. He then asked what the animal was worth.

"Oh, about $200 today," said the rancher. "But in six years it would have been worth $900. So $900 is what I'm out."

The motorist sat down and wrote out a check and handed it to the farmer.

"Here," he said, "is the check for $900. It is postdated six years from now."

A man brought a very limp dog into the veterinary clinic. As he laid the dog on the table the doctor pulled out his stethoscope, placing the receptor on the dog's chest. After a moment or two the doctor shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry, but your dog has passed away."

"What," screamed the man. "How can you tell? You haven't done any testing him or anything. I want another opinion."

With that, the doctor turned and left the room. In a few minutes he returned with a Labrador Retriever. The Retriever went right to work, sniffing the poor dog on the table and checking him out thoroughly. After a considerable amount of sniffing, the Retriever sadly shook his head and went, "woof."

The veterinarian then took the Labrador out and returned in a few minutes with a cat, that walked around the poor dog several times and then sadly shook its head and said, "meow." He then jumped off the table and left the room.

The veterinarian said, "There's nothing more I can do." He handed the man a bill for $600.

The dog's owner went postal. "$600 just to tell me my dog is dead! This is outrageous!"

The doctor shook his head sadly and explained, "If you had taken my word for it, the cost would have been $50, but with the Lab work and the cat scan...it's $600.

Maybe you will like this one.

Even if you do, Skinny, you will never admit it.

Tom had won a toy at a raffle. He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present.

"Who is the most obedient?" he asked. "Who never talks back to mother? Who does everything she says?"

Five small voices answered in unison:

"Okay, Dad, you get the toy."

Those are the cutest little kittens! I don't know why - but I didn't see the kittens earlier when I saw the 'boots! Guess I didn't wait long enough for the gif to animate!

They were a gift from a very nice fellow who likes to fish and loves his dogs.

I really like them, too.
