A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 06-29,30-02 Weekend
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

A Few of FR's Finest.....
Voices Silent, They Are Not Forgotten

1John - 02-01-02           CHIEF_Negotiator - 10-03-01
BCM - 09-11-01     BKO - 09-11-01     CommiesOut - 05-25-02

FreeRepublic Memorial Wall

These are only five of the FRiends who are no longer with us, but they are the only photos I had and the most recent. BCM and BKO, among the casualties of September 11th; Chief Negotiator, a tragic accident just weeks later; 1John, who is pictured in the very first veteran's group above; and CommiesOut, who passed away just last month.

I remember also BC Johnson, EdLinn, RR, OldAtlanta, heavyd, CaseyJay.....familiar names I used to see often on many threads. There are other names on the Memorial Wall some of you may remember: LoveUSA's father, Michael A. Marhevka; laissezfirearm, and JMIRACLE.

This weekend's thread is dedicated to the memory of these dear friends. I hope you will take a few minutes and visit the Memorial Wall and read some of the tributes that are linked to each name. The Wall is a beautiful tribute, created and maintained by Mr_Magoo, "for all of those whose voices have been silenced."

"Rest in Peace, Dear Friends, we will carry the Torch of Freedom in Your Memory."

..24. You actually burn your hand opening the car door. ..

I have done that just trying to grab the seat belt buckle to fasten up. Murder!

Oh my goodness! That's beautiful.

The casserole looks just like the
HashBrowns casserole we made last evening.

The addition of Johnny's garlic butter
made it heaven - now I've got to give
up the receipe to everyone at the party.

Thanks for this feast Daisy. ;-)

LITTLE ANGELS SAY

Listen to the things the little angels have to say...
They're here to help you make your life
better every day!

Do something nice for someone.
Try to end a quarrel.
Seek out a forgotten friend.
Write a love letter!

Keep a promise.
Stop to listen.
Show your loyalty in word and deed.
Share a treasure!

Find the time.
Forgive an enemy.
Apologize if you were wrong.
Let a grudge go!

Appreciate the little things in life.
Be kind.
Be gentle.
Laugh a little more!

Try to understand.
Speak your love.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.
Express your gratitude!

Welcome a stranger.
Gladden the heart of a child or a senior.
Do a random act of kindness.
Smile!

LOL! Hi Daisy. No, I am here, just hiding out in a corner. Just came in from church and lunch and trying to catch up on mail and pings.

There's only one person I know who is up to the job and that's Julie "the General". She can keep Louie in line. LOL!

You have to explain to company from out of town, what animal a "Tri-tip" comes from and that it's indigenous to the area.

LOL! I forget that everyone doesn't know what Tri-tip is.

That list is great, Amy, and so true! It's sure a hot one in the valley today. I think I am going to stay inside and flake out under the ceiling fan.

OK - lemme think.
Approximately 2lbs frozen hash brown spuds
(I can only find the 30oz size, but that's ok.)

8oz sour cream
1 can nacho cheese soup
6 chopped green onions - or to taste
2/3 cup melted butter
16 oz melted Kraft Hot Mexican Velveeta (which is not really hot.)

Mix it all up, sprinkle w/paprika
Bake 1 hour @ 350, or till golden brown - voila.

We've done this receipe for years, and Pam's had
several requests for the receipe, but with the use
of Johnny's Garlic seasoned butter, the crowd went
wild - a totally scraped clean pyrex!

Johnny's GreatCaesar Garlic Spread & Seasoning was
found at my Costco where they were demo-ing it.
Start off at 1/4 - 1/3 the recommended dosage, please.

I think you'll enjoy this product. JL

Apologies up - I'm too lazy to go back and code this post. ;-)
