UNBELIEVABLE. BREAKING ON FOX: SF APPEALS COURT SAYS PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ENDORSES RELIGION, AND IS THEREBY UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
What is to stop them ? This train of illogic started in the 60's and hasn't been stopped yet. Why not declare that our founders' declaration is flawed by the mention of a Creator and that we are still a colony of England ? Why not forbid prayer in all government buildings (including Congress) ? I know its absurd to think it could go that far but who would expect a court to interfere with the Pledge of Allegiance ? It's all Kafkaesque to start with.
Probably not. But oh boy how much I daydream about getting enough support nationwide to make it a Constitutional Ammendment. That trumps everything ;-)
On to the Supreme Court!
No, as that would be a crime against humanity.
If it is blatantly unconstitutional, it is our duty to break the law.
I guess that means it will be unconstitutional to send our money to Washington. That's fine with me.
Well 4th grade was a bit of a struggle for me, but I got through that too.
If you live in this society, and are an athiest/Buddhist/Pagan/Shintoist or have a belief in any other religion outside the mainstream, you have had to find a way to raise your children in what you find to be an appropriate fashion. Nine times out of ten you have discussed with your children the beliefs of the majority of those that are around you. You certainly have the right to ask the school to exclude your child from the pledge that the majority of them say without any problem nor interference from anyone else.
When I was in grade school, there were several children whose families were Jehovah Witnesses. They were prohibited by their religion from saying the Pledge because of the "under God" statement. They were permitted to remain seated and not say the Pledge. This is what this father was offered. He declined, saying this was not sufficient.
And since he insists on this, then I have to agree with what was posted earlier. Give me my vouchers so I may send my children to a school where they don't have to be subjected to the beliefs of those who do not have a religion as mine do.
Nonsense. Every child who's parents cannot afford to send them to non-government schools, but must send them somewhere at the point of a gun is forced to say the pledge. Little children cannot opt out due to pressure from teachers and other children. Grow up.
Public schools are the essence of the public square,
Compulsary schooling is immoral.
were supported by Jefferson and Madison and are not subject to tyranny by a minority.
Compulsary schooling was never supported by Jefferson or Madison.
You're cause and the cause of the leftist minority will take a big kick in the ass today.
My cause? What might that be? Try to avoid speculating.
Remember all those Christians who stayed home last election? Well guess what, they won't be staying home in November.
I'm a Christian and I didn't stay home. I won't be staying home this time either.
It was remanded to the District Court
I repeat, nobody in America is forced to recite the pledge of allegiance. However, many of us have sworn oaths to defend the nation from enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Something tells me the left is going to rue this day.
I've just found an interesting quote from Jefferson..
To suffer the civil magistrate to intrude his powers into the field of opinion and to restrain the profession or propagation of principles on supposition of their ill tendency is a dangerous fallacy which at once destroys all religious liberty, because he being of course judge of that tendency will make his opinions the rule of judgment and approve or condemn the sentiments of others only as they shall square with or differ from his own (Statute for Religious Freedom, 1779).
