Please pray for Freeper Friend Lex (has not posted here in awhile) who has cancer and is in much pain. I have posted to several threads but not an independent thread for prayer for her until now. Please pray for God's healing mercies for Lex, a dear one who attended the 1998 March for Justice and who was a frequent article poster here. Please pray for God to provide all the necessary wisdom and to supply every need involved with this situation. Thank you in advance, all you Free Republic prayer warriors.
Also, a brother of my sister in law been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease, otherwise known as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This is a terrible, fatal disease and for him has started in his throat area which is the worst place for this to start. His name is Johnny.
All prayers for him are welcome. He has three grown children but a 12 year old neice (also my neice) whose heart has been broken by this news...and of course his sister - my sister in law - the same. Please pray for God's help, for good medical care and for some light to break into the darkness here and into Johnny's heart.
We cannot understand these illnesses. We can only pray for God's healing mercies to come into each situation...and, well, FReeper pray-ers know how to pray.

Here is today's Gospel reading:
Gospel
Mk 10:46-52
As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
"Jesus, son of David, have pity on me."
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me."
Jesus stopped and said, "Call him."
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
"Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you."
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, "What do you want me to do for you?"
The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see."
Jesus told him, "Go your way; your faith has saved you."
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.

How appropriate! Thank you! Yes, I know that God can and will heal people - even today. Especially through the power of prayer. I am praying for ones to come into the life of this suffering one (who lives on the other side of the country from his sister and from us) who can bring the Good News of God's healing power into his life and situation.

Thanks for the ping Budge.
Added to prayer list.
God gave us knees for several purposes. Ever notice that they don't hurt when we are on our knees in prayer?
To: Freedom'sWorthIt
I will be keeping you and your friends and family in my heart and prayers.

Prayers for them both and their families. May God grant them strength to fight their illness.
Jesus, We Trust in You.
To: Howlin, DiverDave
Thank you both for your prayers. Howlin! I don't know why I didn't ping you sooner....just so many prayer needs here lately. I finally decided to post a thread for these two - but am also remembering the others posted on FR lately re: the two children especially.
DiverDave - between spending time on knees in prayer and time here at FR, not much time for much else, is there?
To: BlueAngel
"Jesus, We Trust in You" AMEN - yes we do - thank you!

Lord Jesus Christ, by your patience in suffering you hallowed earthly pain and gave us the example of obedience to your Father's will:
Be near Lex and Johnny in their time of weakness and pain;
sustain them by your grace, that their strength and courage may not fail;
heal them according to your will;
and help them always to believe that what happens to them here is of little account if you hold them in eternal life, our Lord and our God.
Amen.

The only thing that comes to mind is the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and how His peace that passes all understanding is the only hope. My fervent prayer is that through this horrid and evil disease, he will come to know the Lord.While that alone will not remove the disease...or it may depending on the will of God...it *will* offer hope and eternal life. <><
To: whoever, Diver Dave
Can y'all ping a few folks for this prayer need? Thanks.

One of the girls on my soccer team's dad had ALS. He was a former football coach, and he and his family had remarkable spirit. I pray to pass this along, as well as to our fellow FReeper.

These have been added to my prayer list. May His will be done as He comforts the families.

Adding my prayers for Lex and Johnny. May God see each of them through this time according to His will. I pray that their pain be taken from them and that miracles might happen.
I pray that they look to Jesus and trust as He holds them in His grasp through all life's trials. He will never leave them.
To: Freedom'sWorthIt
My prayers are with Lex and with Johnny and his family.

Prayer on the way.

You're very welcomed. I lost my Mother a little over a year ago and
so I think I understand what you're going through, etc......
To: Freedom'sWorthIt; Budge
My prayers are with both of them.
Thanks for the ping, Budge.

God bless each of you - and I mean that sincerely - who have prayed. You have been and will be a blessing to me and to those in such need. When we are hurting so badly, it is so wonderful to bring these needs before prayer friends here. (I have read every word - thank each of you for each word and thought and prayer....and I will be passing along all of these prayers to the loved ones of those in need, for them to pass along to "Lex" (who is really Pat, a dear lady who fervently loves freedom and God and her family) and to Johnny.
