Throughout our nation's history good men have fought and died to preserve this nation and it's ideals. From our founding fathers to today's armed forces, many sacrifices have been made on our behalf. On Memorial Day weekend it is only fitting that we should take some time to say thank you to those who are preserving our freedoms today, and to remember those who have paid the ultimate price in the past. At this time I would like to ask you to join us, as we institute our first Email-a-Thon. Make a pledge here so we'll know how many emails are going out, then click on the provided links and send the emails.

It's another Memorial Day weekend and most of us are looking forward to good times with family and friends. But some of our fellow countrymen don't have it so good this year. Once again we have armed forces under fire in foreign lands. On behalf of VetsCor, A_Navy_Vet has been asking that we take time this weekend to participate in efforts to thank those who have lost loved ones, and express our appreciation for those who are currently serving in our armed forces. On the USO Canteen threads, Snow Bunny has been providing email links for some time that facilitate the emailing of our service members. This weekend, let's throw our full support behind

their efforts. This is the first annual Memorial Day Weekend Email-a-Thon. It won't take that long to click on the links I've provided, and send out some emails. And when all is said and done, thousands of our countrymen will know that folks at home care about them and appreciate what they are doing. The goal is to see if we can send over 10,000 emails to our fellow countrymen. I think that's an easy goal if we all chip in. How many will you agree to send? Can you send 100 or more? Why not take on this task and help us blow by that 10,000 number.

It'd be great if we could make sure every member of our armed forces overseas, recieved a note of thanks. A_Navy_vet and Snow Bunny deserve our support, and this weekend is a great time to chip in and help. If your chapter would like to sponsor this activity, please let me know and I'll add your name to the list. Thanks to Snow Bunny, A Navy Vet and 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub for their tireless support of our military. Thanks in advance, to those of you who decide to pitch in.

Thinking about the smiles your thread are producing in the middle east. Most noon to midnight shifts just started in the middle east at 4:00p.m.(central). They check for e-mail off and on - taking a break from the 120 degree high temp.Finishing up my 100 now.

I just completed the 100 emails that I pledged, and I did an additional 50 to help meet the goal! Jen

Will do! I'll go for a 'spread' across the spectrum. Have to leave for the week, but have all next weekend. I note many ships have websites! I presume the Army & Airforce Bases can be reached anytime also.
To: DoughtyOne
Thank you for that, it's beautiful! It does work better this way.
Ok - keeping math straight for you.
100 pledged yesterday, sent
500 pledged yesterday, sent
500 more pledging right now, already sent
Total 1100 sent

7485 Emails Pledged (or sent)
Gooooooooooooooooooooooo Freepers!
We've achieved 74.9% of our goal.
To: DoughtyOne
Okay, we've got 3.5 hours and 2515 emails to go before we reach our gaol. I will send as many as is necessary to meet that goal of 10,000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought this was fitting. This battle's not over until we hit 10,000...
To: DoughtyOne
Darn, darn, darn, I was out of town until earlier this evening and missed this! Do the emails have to go out tonight? If so, I will pledge 10, if some can be done tomorrow I can do more then.
To: DoughtyOne
Thought this one was fitting too...
To: DoughtyOne
Okay. Now, off to work...
To: McLynnan
You can do them anytime, but our Email-a-Thon ends at 12:00 midnight p.d.t.
Take care...
To: DoughtyOne
I can do 20 by midnight here in the East, hope this helps! GG
To: DoughtyOne
Okay, thank you. Put me down for 20 please. I have half of them done.
To: DoughtyOne
Oh, well if it's PDT, I'll stay up until I hit 100! Count me in! GG
To: DoughtyOne
How did we go from 9047, (post #277), down to 7485, (post #287)? Did you see I did an extra 500 today, darn I thought that would almost put us up to the goal. Keep typing people! :^)

I'm working on sending another 100 emails ..... will have them all done in a few minutes.
That will be 20 to each branch of the service from Gastonia, NC (if anyone is still keeping track of that).
