FReep Cynthia McKinney's "Veterans Town Hall Meeting" in Decatur, GA, Saturday, 5/18/2002 1PM

As discussed on a recent thread, Cynthia McKinney, D-Georgia 4th Contressional District (Actually C-Cuba), has announced that she will hold a Veterans' Town Hall Meeting. The text of that newspaper item, from the DeKalb Neighbor Newspaper, reads as follows:

Veterans Town Hall Meeting: 4th Congressional District Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Decatur, is sponsoring a Town Hall meeting with local veterans May 18 at 1 p.m. at the Decatur Library Auditorium, 215 Sycamore St., Decatur. Ms. McKinney's district includes all of DeKalb County.
Information: (404) 377-6900

We expect that Ms. McKinney is suddenly interested in veterans due to 9/11, and planned on having a quiet event in which she could display her concern for veterans now that her anti-military past is such a political liability. This could then be trumpeted in the press and campaign literature. We aim to show up and set the record straight on Ms. McKinney's support for the military. A few facts:

o The long-time legislative coordinator of the Georgia VFW (Veteran's of Foreign Wars) tells me that in all of his years of going to Washington, Cynthia McKinney has NEVER had time to meet with them. Zell, Linder, Barr, and many others always make time for him. Even John Lewis meets with them about every 3rd time they go, or at least has an aide meet with them.

o This week, I spoke with several VFW leaders in the 4th District. Only ONE had heard about this event. It seems that Ms. McKinney has put little-to-no effort into informing veterans of the "town hall meeting" she is holding, ostensibly for their benefit.

o Cynthia's voting record on military issues has been one of the worst in Congress. For instance, in 2000, she voted against a the Vieques PR Referendum bill, which was for military training at the Navy range at Vieques, PR. This is bombing training for our carrier pilots that she opposed. She has a lifetime rating of 7 out of 100 by the Ameican Conservative Union (!!).

o Interestingly, her campaign coffers overfloweth with money from Islamic-named individuals from outside of her/my district. I have been through this list of contributors to CYNTHIA MCKINNEY FOR CONGRESS, and almost none of the in-state contributors are from her district, and most are from out-of-state in the first place. Note that all of these contributions are post-9/11.

o Ms. McKinney had plenty of time to whine about black voters in Florida supposedly being denied their franchise, presumably due to evil Repuplicans. Interestingly, none of the lawsuits promised by Ms. McKinney and her "Civil Rights" buddies ever went anywhere, because they couldn't find anyone to swear out an affadavit that they had been prevented from voting. Meanwhile, we never heard anything about the questionable handling of thousands of military absentee ballots. There are many military members home-based in Florida, with large Naval installations in Jacksonville and Pensacola, The Air Force at Eglin, and Central Command in Tampa. Again, no friend of the military.

In short, we have here an extreme left wing, anti-military Congresswoman who is apparently getting substantial support from what are likely anti-American sources. We must set the record straight for the public.

For the first slogan, McKinney has been a Blight on America for TEN Years, first elected in 1992.

VC - fill in blank with 10

Do you have the statistics on McKinney donors-- I had heard that ___ % (91?) of her donation came from Arab sources. Do you know the details. I have reviewed the McKinney Files and it is not totalized.

Also, please post a McKinney Files link here on this thread if possible.

Go get 'em, Georgia Freepers!

I wish I could be there to help! McKinney is a disgrace to the office she holds - And that's saying something.

Registered-

How about a graphic of a Giant Check for Ten Million Saudi $, (like Publisher's Clearing House) made out to "Comm. to Re-Elect McKinney" signed by Saddam Hussein, Iraq and being handed to "Kabul Cynthia" by Osama bin Laden.

"Cynthia McKinney is the Jane Fonda of the New Millenium"

How about:

"I'm not Fonda McKinney"?

My wife and I live in McKinney's district, and want nothing more than to see her ousted. In fact, we're trying to register as Democrats just to defeat her in the primaries! I will email you for info on the FReep. I've never done this before so please give me the 411, as McKinney's supporters would say. I would hope this would attract some media attention, thus good slogans are needed. How about something like "America First in Dekalb - Oust McKinney"?

No, Duluth isn't in her district (neither am I), but that doesn't matter. If your sister is so inclined, she could join us as we FReep this Anti-American. We'd love to have her assistance.

Good enough! I'll give her a call with the details. Her hubby is a retired USMC Gunny, and I know that he is not fond of McKinney either.

I thought some of Duluth was in her district. Some of Norcross is, I know.

Oh, I have a couple of times gotten franked mail-outs from McKinney, but nothing on this veteran's meeting.

I knew that some of Norcross was in #4 but I didn't think it went as far north as Duluth. I could very well be wrong though.

I lived in Norcross for a while and had a really hard time finding out exactly what district it was.

Am out of pocket this weekend, will try to check in from time-to-time, when I can find web access (not taking a laptop with me). Will have a detailed itinerary for 5/18 with FReeping instructions middle of the week; expect to do a site reconnaissance Monday or Tuesday.

No. The District is all of DeKalb, and a smallish sliver of NW Gwinnett County / Norcross / Peachtree Corners, the part that adjoins DeKalb.
