Just heard that Atkins had aheart attack this morning
Start using systemic enzymes, and kiss your gout goodbye. if you can find it, use Wobenzyme N from Naturally vitamins, a compound used in Germany for decades. you will need to take 5-7 three times a day on empty stomach. when sit. resoves, maintain with 2-4 three times a day. i sell tons of it, tons of repeat purchases, tons of clinical evidence, govt. tried to ban it, but it is only enzymes from food sources like pineapples, cows, papaya. you must use systemic enzymes, enteric coated, digestive will not really work, unless you take handfuls.
Not a bad observation. Also, watch what they do when they're not eating... regular exercise - beyond fork-lifting, would be benificial
You are correct, he IS on to something, but to be fair, alot of nutritional types are on to something, and that is, that high amounts of refined carbohydrates are probably bad for you. The problem with Atkins is that he dogmatically sticks with is idea that carbs are evil (well, ok, thats not true, but alot of those who go on his diet totally eschew carbs altogether), and that saturated fats aren't bad for you in the absence of carbs. Thats probably not true.
What people should take from his diet is the idea of reducing processed carbs from ones diet. I wouldn't go as far as the Atkins people do (although I must say that I have tried variations of the diet, and it has worked very well for me).
Also, for some people (apparently, different people process their foods differently.. gee, what a concept), its a great diet (Synrome X types). Those who say that its a bad and dangerous diet should probably refrain from making blanket statements about such things.
further, Yes your dietary habits will accomplish the same thing, But, how many people do you actually know, that can be that sophisticated about their caloric intake....It was an overgeneralized statement....People that actually have an understanding of proper diet, and training, and the symbiosis between the two, are pretty few and far between....
Basically my meals consist of protein as the main source of food (usually chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish or red meat) and veggies. I rarely eat bacon or other high fat content foods. I use only olive oil in cooking and limit the amount of carbs I take it. I have a serving of fruit twice a day since natural sugars do not effect me and the benefits of eating fruits outweigh any natural sugar problems there might be. My blood pressure is normal, as is my cholestrol and blood sugar. It does work, though I'd find Adkins diet plan to be completely impossible to follow long term.
Since I work at a desk and also attend school full time, I have very little time to exercise during the week so I have to have a diet that will not pack on the pounds, I exercise 1 day during the week and every weekend go swimming. As I said, it works for me.
I am concerned about people who go on Adkins, eat as many fatty foods that are allowed (bacon, fried pork skins etc) and think they will be healthy long term. Fact is, you do have to limit fat and cholestrol in your diet and using low-fat proteins is the way to do it.
Let me ask you this...Are there any contraindications for short term Steroid Use?
I find that curious. Everytime I've used, (excepting the three day adjustment period...) I Noticed pretty good stregnth gains....
I have the world's first heat seaking guided missle -a Whippet! (Actually, they say that owners will eventually look like their dogs, so I bought a whippet as I needed to lose some weight!)
Trouble is he's a sprinter -all out for 10 tosses of the aroebe disc and then he's spent.
When I started my jogging experience 10 years ago, I weighed less than I do today. I couldn't jog a continuous mile (I was even on my college track team -read 'field events'). I went from 11/12 minute miles down to 3 miles at just over 6 minutes per mile. I really really enjoyed that.
As I said I weigh more now, but am very comfortable -no aches and pains (I'm relatively young yet), I attempted to beginn jogging last year (didn't want to stick withit) and I was able to complete a continuous mile in around 10 1/2 minutes -far better when than when I was in 'shape' just after college.

In the AM I've been running 6-10 miles....
but did you ever get truly lean, where you can see your linea alba (ab line), and where are you years later. the diet is for short times: the phyonutrients in veggies etc are being found to be more and more important. atkins is reverse vegetarianism...too extreme either way is not optimal.
Thats certainly part of it. I once read an estimate that while we were evolving (or when God created us, however), the average person had to forage some 4 miles just to get enough food energy to maintain life. So we did alot more moving around.
The other part(s) of the equation is the calories we eat and absorb. The food we used to eat was very, very high in fiber and "roughage". Maybe up to 100 grams of fiber per day (10 servings of Metamucil!). Today, we have "refined" foods (flours, sugars) and some vegetables which have been bred, to contain alot more absorbable calories than they used to (Rice, for example, wasn't much more than a grass, until we got to it. Potatoes, if uncooked (something early man couldn't do) is inedible). Anyways, that, plus the fact that amount of food we eat has increased (we eat some 30% more per sitting than we did 50 years ago), PLUS we exercise alot let, means we, as a culture, are turning into fat tubs of goo! {/Letterman}
