How can I get the old format back? I DON'T like all the fuss-stuff that is here now. Even the 'self search' comment part is loaded with more than I want.

If I can't get the old format back, then how can I get rid of the new format? I'm not trying to be funny. There is just TOO much stuff. I come for news and comments and I get questions, and distractions.

Here's a question? how do I do restricted search for posts by and to specific users?

Yesterday, I could type in "by: username" or "to: username" and get a list of posts made by or to someone besides myself.

Hole-in-one pointed me to a "find-in-forum" search box, but it doesn't seem to allow a restricted search (posts "to" only, or posts "by" only) or multiple user search.

The old interface might have been plain, but it seemed to have a more useful search utility

How do you get more than 5 items in your Breaking News Side Bar?

You used to be able to check the top stories of the day's news on your first click to Free Republic. But with only 5 'Breaking News' stories, there is no way to know how much more news you are missing without clicking to ANOTHER page for MORE stories.

How about an easy "mash here" way to get to the Freeper's Profile page where you can ping all the folks in your State with your State flag? It's is useful in reporting things like Anti-tax riots in Tenn.

Ok. I have figured out how to get certain topics in the sidebar,but I like to have Breaking News at the top of the sidebar. No matter what I do about subscribing in a certain order, I can't get Breaking News at the top. Is there a way to put the topics in the sidebar in a particular order???
