Is there a possibility to have thread titles - only? Sometimes the description of the first 20 paragraphs isn't really required during the browsing procedure...

That option is available in the left sidebar. Also, you adjust these type of settings in "Preferences".

Make sure you have Show Brief selected on the left.

In the left sidebar there should be a button that says "Show Headers only".
