Click on Topics, in the right hand corner, scroll down to find Breaking News and click on it; when the Breaking News page opens, on the left side of the page find where it says "You do not subscribe to this forum, click here to Subscribe, click it.......and tada, you have breaking news on the right side the next time you go to Latest posts!

E148, once you get everything set up right, you may like it better. It's like installing a new program on your computer. At first it's a pain but worth the effort.

Here's a question? how do I do restricted search for posts by and to specific users?

Yesterday, I could type in "by: username" or "to: username" and get a list of posts made by or to someone besides myself.

Hole-in-one pointed me to a "find-in-forum" search box, but it doesn't seem to allow a restricted search (posts "to" only, or posts "by" only) or multiple user search.

The old interface might have been plain, but it seemed to have a more useful search utility

Like what? Mine is perfect. Just one line links to all replies and a nice paragraph breif of each article posted.

Yeah. Can we delete every complaint vanity that has popped up today.??

JimRob can them place a message on the homepage saying, "if your I.Q. is below room temperature, it may take you 20 minutes to figure this site out. If your I.Q. is above room temperature, 5 minutes shoud suffice. Please give it a shot without posting a whiney complaint vanity using the words, 'sucks', 'blows', 'stinks' or 'awful'."

Ahhhhh... two examples of the "New Free Republic" are heard from. Why don't you two newbies chill out?

If you had bothered to do a little searching, you would have discovered that so-far, there isn't a thread anywhere on the forum to discuss these new changes. (Well, if there is one, I can't find it.)

Not having been around long enough to remember the several previous manifestations of this forum, you might not realize what has been lost.

For instance, the balkanization of the forum concerns me greatly. (Yeah, I know you both are running to dictionary.com right now...)

Click "search" in upper right, select "find user", type in name.
