I cannot find my earliest comments from the first months after I joined. Does the self-search function only go back a certain period of time?

yup. used to go all the way back but the big change changed that

I have a relatively minor nuisance to report:

You are apparently tracking some kind of data so that "My Comments" becomes bold whenever there are new replies that haven't been viewed. Then it returns to normal font when all have been viewed. Cool feature!

But "My Comments" is also turning bold when the only new reply is one that I just posted myself.

Is this a minor glitch that can easily be corrected?
Or is it complicated by timing, cache, etc. etc.?

(Actually, I don't need a technical explanation.
Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.)
