So you tell me how to get full function back in the search utility, if you are so with it.
How can I find all the posts a specific user has made, or users have made?
How can I find all the posts to a particular person. How can I further restrict the search to just items posted within a particular time period?
I could do that yesterday.
can't do it now.

OK, I found the forum discussion thread:
This is Awful!I was wrong, but you two are still out of line.
To: SarahW
BobJ got it. I totally missed that link. Find User above the search field will bring up all posts by the user you enter.
To: Bob J
NO, no, I mean how do I restrict the search?
Before you could do that search for one or multiple users. You could limit the search to posts on a certain date, or a time window. You could find posts "to" a person, Or, just posts "By" a person. Or both together.
If we haven't lost all that utility now, how do I do THOSE kinds of searches again?

To: Texaggie79
Can you perhaps explain just what was WRONG with the old format??
Just curious.
To: Texaggie79
Texaggie - that still doesn't bring back all the search funtions. How do I restrict the searches? Is there new syntax?

A real question...
How do you get more than 5 items in your Breaking News Side Bar?
You used to be able to check the top stories of the day's news on your first click to Free Republic. But with only 5 'Breaking News' stories, there is no way to know how much more news you are missing without clicking to ANOTHER page for MORE stories.
To: Texaggie79
See what I've done
here in an attempt to simplify matters and make everything
I want readily available to me, readily available to me.
To: SarahW
I don't see it, but John obviously has the subroutine so maybe we can ask him to add it back to the new search page.

The only other restriction I can think of is by author.

Are you sure you meant to address post #38 to me? Because, if you were, you don't make much sense.

how can one get rid of that forum thing at the top? Its irritating to read bits and pieces of conversations. Click on the flag, then tell it you do not want to be notified of new messages. This probably should be made the default.
