Mr Simmons,
This is to advise you about a push poll that was directed to me last night about 9pm in East Hampton. After establishing I was a likely voter, the oldest male and was a republican I was asked who I would vote for. After telling them the republican candidate most likely (because I don't know you because of redistricting) I was asked a series of questions which included (not exact wording) :
1. Simmons voted for 450 million in retro active tax benefits for Enron.
2. Simmons voted against school building.
3. Simmons voted against allowing us to sure HMO's and taking away benefits from elderly.
He then asked me would I still vote for Simmons. I told him his questions were based on flawed premises and that this was a push poll. I was surprised that he didn't tell me Simmons was an ax murderer but yes I will still vote for the ax murderer.
The contact person I was given for this poll is Amy Collier, 215-641-2200 ext 2247. I left her a message telling her the polling company was lower scum than Clinton.
I am angry about this call and am willing to offer whatever assistance I can to you in the upcoming election in East Hampton, please let me know what I can do to help.
Ray
Mr. Simmons,
For what its worth I told the Courtnery campaign I was disappointed in the push polls. The manager said she knew nothing about them, they did not order them and implied she would try and stop them if they knew who they were from.
She then advised me you were the beneficiary of push polls and other dirty tricks in the last election because a poll that insinuated that Sam Gedjensen was having an affair. According to her you did not take sufficient steps to stop that and consequently she apparently doesn't see it wrong to be the beneficary of the negative polling as long as they haven't a direct connection to them. Apparently what was good for you then by the NRC is good for her now by the DNC.

LOL!
I once thought that the best route for CFR was an outright Veto but since a few days ago I am not certain that a veto is the best route. As for Simmons, he won by such a small margin and CFR is very important to CT residences he would get creamed in the elections if he went against his constituency. I could get into a lengthy discussion about why but I am sure you wouldn't listen because your mind is made up. But as for November I will have two candidates to choose from, Simmons and some Rat. Which do I choose ?
Just 3 days ago you were defending him as some sort of second coming of Ronald Reagan. Nice to see your medicine is working.
And by these words, you expect us to believe that YOU don't have a chip on YOUR shoulder??
This is a fallacy. No one cares about CFR. I'll ask again...if under pressure Simmons and some RAT will both vote against what you believe in, what difference does it make who you vote for?
Seriously...I WANT to vote for Simmons, just as I WANT to vote for Bush. I just don't think I can.
I happen to respect him for voting what his constituents want, even if I disagree with him. He is a rep after all. I also happen to think the only part of CFR that I disagree with and is unconsitutional is the ad black out and I further believe this will keep coming back until its settled by the SC which I would rather take my chances with now rather than later when their could be more liberals on it.
What you have a problem with is you don't like our representative system. You want a system whereby the elected official vote's according to one platform regardless of whether those who elected him want that platform. In the current system any rep would not last long and in the system you desire I believe its called facism.
You have the progression of things backwards. You must change the hearts and minds of the people first who in turn will elect people who they feel most closely align with their own beliefs.
He swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. He violated that oath. Period. End of story.
I am truly sorry that you think you have the right to decide how much money I can spend supporting a candidate. To me that's not America. But that's another issue.
And it's funny you should mention fascism, because my mother-in-law sees a similarity between the current bloodlust against capitalism, freedom and liberty and pre-Hitler Germany. I got a Freepmail from someone who made a similar observation.
Free speech and free association are arguably the last bastions against Fascism.
But I respect your opinion.
By the way, if your letter to Shays doesn't get the results you were looking for, you might try spitting in his face.
I'm not interested in being friends with people who seek to destroy my liberty. Besides, I thought I was free to say whatever I wanted, aren't I?
P.S. = Who cares what you think? The great thing about America is that you can write your own letter to a politician, just as long as you don't do it within a group and send it out as a mailing 60 days before an election.
Don't forget the constitution is what 2/3 of the people say it is.
Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or ... to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Or here:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic
It seems to me that everyone here has his point of no compromise, and everyone here has his price.
For you VRWC_minion, CFR is something on which you will compromise, and/or your price is having an R next to your rep's name as opposed to a D.
For me, CFR represents the Constitution, more specifically the right of free speech and assembly, which is my point of no compromise. Furthermore, I have been arguing that cowardly Rs are no better than plain old RATS.
We just disagree. Best wishes.
