The Dems defeated Pickering. They'll keep kicking sand in GOP faces until the GOP retakes the Senate. Yet GOP chair Marc Racicot - who could run a strong race against the incumbent Dem Senator in MT - - refuses to do so. IF YOU'RE ONE OF THE FREEPERS WHO MAKES EXCUSES FOR THIS WEENIE, STOP CRITIZING DASCHLE AND THE OTHER SENATE DEMS - YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. (and of course, neither does Racicot).

Under one scenario, each party could pick up a seat or two, and Democrats could wind up keeping control of the Senate if Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), whom Republicans regard as one of the Democrats' most vulnerable incumbents, wins reelection. With Racicot opting to chair the Republican National Committee rather than run for the Senate, state Sen. Mike Taylor is now the most likely GOP candidate.
HEAR THAT, FREEPERS - - RACICOT'S DECISION NOT TO RUN COULD BY ITSELF KEEP THE SENATE IN DEM HANDS!!!!!!!!
Why do so few of you care? WHY DOESN'T RACICOT CARE?
What a question. If I were a former governor of MT with an estimated 70 percent approval rate, I'd run in an instant - because the GOP needs to take back the Senate. Racicot has the ability to run and win (unlike me, duh) so if he cares about the future of the country - and the fate of Pickering and future Pickerings - I think he has a duty to run.
"In Montana, the top three Republican challengers to Sen. Max Baucus (D)would be former Gov. Mark Racicot, Mark Racicot and Mark Racicot. If none of them runs, look for the party to make a desperate, last-ditch effort to get Mark Racicot to run. Get the picture? Racicot's already bigger-than-life reputation grew even larger this week when a Billings Gazette poll showed him leading Baucus by 19 points in a hypothetical matchup."
It simply amazes me how few Freepers care about prodding Racicot to run. They'd rather gripe about Daschle than do anything about Daschle. Like old men at the nursing home, they love to complain - and maybe, down deep, don't want the target of their complaining removed.
On the other side have you checked the rules in his state? Has th deadline passed? Is it even possible for him to run?
There are different qualifications and skills required for these two positions. One requires you to spend months in DC Hell each year for 6 years.Without term limits and with DC so thoroughly infested with career socialist elites and their press pals...a non-leftist needs to be seriously concerned with his spiritual and physical well-being. If he has kids...forget it. Fess up, you're from DU, right?
I don't know why you keep harping on this. It's not going to happen.
Right - I'm a Democrat who wants the Democrats to lose the Senate. In fact, Racicot may be the most popular Republican with DU types, because he refuses to run against one of their most vulnerable incumbents. If I WERE a Democrat, I'd be cheering over Racicot's decision - as I'm sure Daschle secretly is. Daschle jokes that he mows Jeffords' lawn. Well, he it to Racicot to wash Racicot's car in gratitude for Racicot's decision not to run for Senate. By choosing not to run, RACICOT'S HELPING THE DEMS almost as much as Jeffords!!!
I'm not the only one "harping" on it. Novak, National Review and other knowledgable conservatives want to know why Racicot won't help reclaim the Senate for the GOP.
