ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Domino's Pizza founder Tom Monaghan wants to build a 250-foot-high freestanding crucifix at his Domino's Farms office park in this Washtenaw County community.

The 25-story structure, topped by a 40-foot figure of Christ, would be about as tall as the Statue of Liberty, and 51 feet shorter than the tip of its torch.

If it makes people think of Him, I think it's a good idea.

If you were to see a cross without Him on it, it would still remind you of Him, correct?

The point is that my faith will not be destroyed whether I see an image of Him on the cross or not. I know what He did

I think all Christians would agree with that.

To say that Tom is a ' crack pot' shows that you know nothing of the man. I work very closely with Tom with the RNC Catholics. We have meetings at his office concerning how to bring more Catholics into the party. He is very pro life, and was adopted as a child. He is a completely self made man, and possibly the most humble man I have ever met.

On his large property he has a petting zoo and working farm. He treats him employees like family. Those Buffalo roaming are pretty neat. He also has a cloister on his property. You can see nuns walking around all the time.

I support him in opening a Catholic school. To complain about the extra traffic is ludicrous. The extra traffic in the area is from all those yuppie condos that took over some of the most beautiful land in the area.

I support Tom in this magnificent symbol of his faith. And by the way, I am not even Catholic.

"I'm a Methodist, but this will offend people in this multireligious area."

Nicly done...this sentence has all the correct left-wing keywords, in exactly all the right places.

Offensive, the blanket excuse for taking away more and more and more of our national culture every day.

When grandma and grandpa got saved, they used to sing:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross...
not crosses.

agreed. I just think some of the stuff on his property makes him a tad eccentric. That wasn't even the point of my post.

Look in the mirror, as we are ALL eccentric!

He's just got the loot to be able to DO something about it!

Memories? WHAT memories?

It's STILL in the hymnbook, so just get your songleader to cue it up!

We have no songbooks in our church. The church I attend now sings modern worship and praise music. I was a good change for me.

I believe you misread my post. The Methodist Churches for the most part have become a welcome home for liberals and liberal causes. Her claim was that she was a Methodist, but she was concerned that a "Christian" symbol might offend some non-Christian. While Jesus told us to preach the gospel to every creature, she would obviously prefer that the gospel only be preached to the choir.

I believe you misread my post.

Looks like you are right about this. Sorry.

The Methodist Churches for the most part have become a welcome home for liberals and liberal causes.

This is true of ALL of them, including the Catholics, who REALLY pushed "Liberation Theology".

Her claim was that she was a Methodist, but she was concerned that a "Christian" symbol might offend some non-Christian.

Most likely she is worried about making some of her Muslim friends mad. I've been told Michigan has a LOT of Muslims, and as far as I know (I CAN be wrong, here!) they are the ONLY religion that finds the cross offensive.
