ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Domino's Pizza founder Tom Monaghan wants to build a 250-foot-high freestanding crucifix at his Domino's Farms office park in this Washtenaw County community.

The 25-story structure, topped by a 40-foot figure of Christ, would be about as tall as the Statue of Liberty, and 51 feet shorter than the tip of its torch.

And the good thing is that it won't cost anything if it can be erected in 30 minutes or less.

Yes, even though it's his property and his money, he probably won't be allowed to build it because peope will be able to see it on the horizon. Were he building a water tower, that would be fine. But there are just too many vampires of all religions walking around these days whose heads will explode if, God-don't-forbid, they see the crucifix.

The Statue of Liberty is a pretty good guide. I don't eat pizza, but what is wrong with, "I'll have a memory of Christ to go with this."

Too bad Papa John's Pizza is better.

But Domino's beats the living daylights out of Pizza Hutt.

Monaco's Pizza is the best on the planet, bar none. Better than Armand's, better than Generous George. Franca is going to be conferred with beatude and the Church will confer sainthood upon her for her pizza.

I could do w/o the graven image of Christ. A simple cross would work much better since He is no longer on the cross. Or better yet, an empty tomb.

That would be quite a feat considering the fact that Ann Arbor is considered the 'Berkley of the Midwest.'

But, hey, I'm all for it.

"It's outrageous!" said Patricia Blom, whose lives about a half-mile from Domino's Farms. "I'm a Methodist, but this will offend people in this multireligious area."

Too damned bad.

You go Tom.

Methinks thou art a MINO.

Many REAL Methodists have DIED for the 'offense' of the Cross!

Alas, he has to face off against our own domestic Democrataliban, not that I've gotten over Aschroft's lapse in statue-tory judgement yesterday.

But...... is it going to be close to an interstate?

It's going to be hard to beat the impact of that cross along the road in the panhandle of Texas.

Near a small town named either Bride or Groom: I can never get it right.)
