ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Domino's Pizza founder Tom Monaghan wants to build a 250-foot-high freestanding crucifix at his Domino's Farms office park in this Washtenaw County community.

The 25-story structure, topped by a 40-foot figure of Christ, would be about as tall as the Statue of Liberty, and 51 feet shorter than the tip of its torch.

I live in Michigan, therefore I have known Mr. Monaghan and I have eaten his pizza for years. It is decent, considering it is chain restaurant pizza.

Anyway, I have been near his Domino Farms estate, it is along US 23 in Ann Arbor, MI. The guy is a crackpot. He has buffalo roaming around, and all kinds of other things there. Huge spot lights, and stuff. It is the Michigan version of Neverland or MC Hammer's house.

Regardless, anyone in Michigan who is Catholic knows the coolest big cross in Michigan is at Indian River, MI, better known as "The Cross in the Woods." That 55 foot high cross includes a giant 7 ton bronze sculpture of Christ by Marshall Fredericks (the same guy who sculped the Spirit of Detroit and that one sculpture in Cleveland). There is a nearby "Nun Doll Museum" which has like hundreds of dolls wearing just about every nun habit in existence. It is a very neat place and I encourage all RCs (heck, I encourage all people) to go see it if you ever have the chance. The local diocese there just built a church there with a huge window where you can look out and see the cross (mass used to be held outdoors).

Pizza Tom is just trying to build one closer to Detroit, I think. Indian River is several hours away.

PS The Tigers were much better when Monaghan owned them. But, true Tiger fans know that it was John Fetzer's organization that built the 1984 team.

I'm not sure about the Methodist cult, but the sneakypete cult are definitely heathens, headed straight for the sulfurous pit... Heck, they're not even christian, their bible is incomplete.

What, you don't like it when it's said about you?

(on my side of the pizza) anchovies.

Sounds great but,the fish can stay on yourside. Salty swimmers require to much of the "acquired" gustibus.

You have said nothing to back up your claim that Monaghan is a crackpot. Shall we conclude this is simply your personal opinion?

Sounds like you also are having trouble with your memory.

Arguing over which is more important, the death or the resurrection, is like arguing over WHO is the most important of the Trinity.

Wrong. Go read #75 again.........all of it

The proposed crucifix has drawn mixed reactions.

Some people don't like seeing a body on that cross. It is the Body that saved us, not the wood.

The point is that my faith will not be destroyed whether I see an image of Him on the cross or not. I know what He did, thanks all the same.

I consider it a compliment. I still have my army dogtags with the word "Heathen" where the "religious preferences" line is.

But there are just too many vampires of all religions walking around these days whose heads will explode if, God-don't-forbid, they see the crucifix.

lol.....don't ask me why but this struck me as really funny.

Wait until the ACLU gets word of this.

They're too busy trying to get Satan back into little towns in Florida.
