Many Arrested by Portland Police During ICE Protests Saw Cases Fizzle in Court
Willamette Week ^ | 07/26/2026 | Julian Balsley

Forty-three percent of the people Portland police arrested at protests against immigration enforcement have had their cases dismissed or dropped with no complaint or they’ve been acquitted, a WW analysis has found.

Of the eight defendants who went to trial, five were acquitted, and those convicted received only short probations. That suggests juries have largely found that the charges don’t pass muster.

“When arrests are made, they’re based on probable cause that a crime was committed by the person. When a public order situation is becoming dangerous, there are times where arrests are made based on probable cause to prevent a situation from further escalating,” says Sgt. Kevin Allen, a Portland Police Bureau spokesman. In response to questions about the high number of dismissals, dropped charges and acquittals, Allen writes, “There are a variety of reasons that cases may not ultimately lead to prosecution.”

Those who have seen through the veil know justice will not be served by anti-American “judges.”

No prosecution for assaulting law enforcement or citizens. Vandalizing public or private property. Arson is a First Amendment political statement.

Good to know.

Thanks Portland.

I wonder how many of these protestors leave the front door open to their place and allow anyone to walk in off the street and stay as long as they like. I’m betting zero.

Trump should ask each Mayor in this country if they want Federal agents in their city. If NO, announce that no agents will enter except federal buildings security. Illegals, gang members, rapists, robbers will know they will be safe there.

“There are a variety of reasons that cases may not ultimately lead to prosecution.”

Reason #1: They are not in Idaho.

"Those Soros judges sure are handy."

As the left says, 'they live somewhere'. The left, as they always do, dox conservatives and assist and support assassination.

They're playing with fire. Like a four-year-old with a book of stolen matches.

*********************

The Idaho law system is horrible and completely corrupt, it might be one of the worst in America as far as being a defendant & having Constitutional Rights recognized.

You couldn’t pay me or give me free land to live there.

“No Thanks.”

Jury nullification.

I live 2 miles South of Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, because as a straight white conservative Jew, they’d convict me of absolutely anything. Just so with leftists, in reverse. Absolutely innocent.

I don’t trust Portland at all.

Left-wing privilege, not that the cases don’t pass “muster.”

“That suggests juries have largely found that the charges don’t pass muster.”

No, what that suggests is that Portland juries re as corrupt as the entire state political and judicial system . It is based on the politics, not the law. My only hope is that karma gets every one of those b—tards, from defendants to juries to judges. Law means nothing in that a— hole of a state.

Liberals are all the same in one sense, they support a lot of feel good ideas that they DO NOT want applied to themselves.

What would a judges opinion be if his kid got raped and murdered?

Not an isolated case: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/07/22/ice-arrests-illegal-alien-charged-sexually-assaulting-and-murdering-2-year-old

Liberalism:

Raise the taxes on the rich, but rich is those making more than I.

Gay is OK! I don’t want my son gay.

Prostition should be legal. I don’t want my daughter a prostitute.

No death penalty. Don’t ask what I would want done if someone raped my wife, then killed her and our two kids.

Liberalism is FULL of great ideas, as long as we’re talking about someone else.

Illegals, gang members, rapists, robbers will know they will be safe there.

Some mayors are ok with that. They have signed up for the Revolution, and if they can provide beach-heads, all the better.

People who had much more patience than I are starting to give up on the wimpy and ineffectual system. Leftist judges and biased stupid jurors along with loophole ridden laws and precedents make the system look almost as bad as it is.

"Trump should ask each Mayor in this country if they want Federal agents in their city. If NO, announce that no agents will enter"

Then, when crime rockets, and the mayor is trying to be re-elected? Tell them to sleep in the bed they made.

Most, not all, small town mayors are absolutely corrupt. It just is. Nepotism, graft, bribery.

The landlord's brother is the mayor. The mayor's son is the fire chief. The fire chief's brother-in-law is the chief of police. The cops are the nephews and cousins of the chief of police.

When an arsonist lights fire to your house for some grudge, the entire community of civic leaders will sue you. Don't ask me how I know. We survived. Thirty thousand dollars later.

I’ve often wondered if liberals play the lottery or go to a casino.

In which case if they won a big amount how would they feel about their ‘tax the rich’ idea then?

Bet no so well.
