Boeing Moves Defense HQ from Virginia After Radical Gov. Spanberger’s Election

On Wednesday, aerospace giant Boeing announced it will return its Defense, Space & Security headquarters to St. Louis following almost a decade in Virginia.

The move comes only weeks after radical Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) took office.

Steve Parker, Boeing Defense, Space & Security CEO, said in a statement, “It’s important for leaders to be side-by-side with our teammates, listening to their feedback and acting to remove obstacles as we continue to stabilize and strengthen our business.”

The Dims here in Virginia are trying to fool us by abandoning two bills that would have raised taxes on minor things like food deliveries. They still have the big ones in the pipeline. I wouldn’t be surprised if more companies do the same.

This is a misleading headline and the story is really not that huge a deal. Boeing is only moving its “Defense, Space & Security” headquarters out of Virginia. Boeing’s Global Headquarters will remain as will the other research facilities it has nearby.

This probably will only affect less than 100 jobs.

My company moved from its founding location in San Diego to Reston, VA to be "close to the customers". The "customers" being DoD and Congress. I wouldn't be surprised to see them relocate if Spanberger and the Democrat legislative majority make doing business harder than necessary.

I was with Pacific Telephone starting in 1980 and left PacBell in 1991. I recall having meetings in downtown SF, then later in San Ramon. The San Ramon building was huge. Lots of rats in office spaces in the early weeks. My office was in San Diego, so lots of flights on PSA and later Southwest. The attack swans at San Ramon were always a bother.

The company has had multiple offices near the Pentagon as long as I have worked there. The relocation of corporate headquarters to Reston was driven by putting the C suite officers closer and exiting the poor business conditions in California.
