My company moved from its founding location in San Diego to Reston, VA to be "close to the customers".

With lots of government work, there is often a requirement to have an office within a 50 mile radius of the Pentagon or Capitol.

Or use to be anyway… been there, done that.

With lots of government work, there is often a requirement to have an office within a 50 mile radius of the Pentagon or Capitol.

The company has had multiple offices near the Pentagon as long as I have worked there. The relocation of corporate headquarters to Reston was driven by putting the C suite officers closer and exiting the poor business conditions in California.
