🚨 52% of American Schools and Districts have begun rolling out a new program called Equitable Grading
Equitable Grading means American students will have
- Unlimited test retakes - No zeros for missing work - No homework, homework’s is excluded from final grades - No late penalties - No required participation
“In short, everyone passes and more than half of US public schools have already adopted at least one of these policies and some districts have adopted all of them.
Teachers themselves are calling it academic fraud. Meanwhile, the US already spends more per student than almost any other developed nation and our students are performing near the bottom. For example:
- American 15 year olds placed 28th out of 37 countries in math and reading and math scores just hit their lowest levels in 20 years - In some districts, over 50% of middle school students are already three or more grade levels behind, yet they're still being pushed through the system.
Apparently, schools are implementing this to raise test scores, improve graduation rates, and close achievement gaps tied to race and income — This is the classroom version of handing out participation trophies to every kid on the field and it's not just lowering the bar, it's destroying it.”
- 52%: Schools/districts using at least one Equitable Grading policy (e.g., no zeros, retakes, or late-work leniency). - 34%: Using 2-3 Equitable Grading policies. - 6%: Using 4+ Equitable Grading policies (full “package” implementation). - Higher adoption of Equitable Grading in middle schools (e.g., 55% in majority-minority middle schools) and urban/district-wide settings

Although, I have no problem unlimited test taking, everything else is designed to remove accountability for success.
They’ve got it in my leafy suburb—and parents through to the schoolboard are oblivious to its profound harms.
Excellent idea! The slaves will be even better conditioned to vote as they are told. Those at the bottom of the social and economic ladders will stay there, as they are supposed to!
This is total fraud. We need state laws slasning funds for school districts that do this, its just daycare, not schools.
Shutting down government schools needs to be a priority.
Allow parents to shop for independent schools that take education seriously, and which kick out students for bad behavior or for having obnoxious parents. Schools should be calm places where people learn.
There is a nearby thread about hiring managers in the IT field who just cannot find people to hire who have decent skills. Well, “Equitable Grading” is not going to help that situation at all.
“All must have prizes.”
Sending back the non English speaking children who were illegally crammed into our classrooms over the last 4 years will bring up the scores
We could have new cars, go out to eat, take vacations, not shop at the thrift store if we just would send the cubs to public school.
We don't understand the question.
DEI for Dummies.
My wife refused to use the system, and finally packed it in this year.
People complain about so many things that are endangering the U.S.
But the most dangerous influence is the complete failure of our public education system.
Or maybe "Dummies for DEI"
‘Publik Skoolz” are imitating our ‘elite kolleges’...”Our grades are worth less than a used Yugo.
LAUSD has had this for many years. Surprise, surprise (not)
Somebody should tell POTUS about this fraudulent garbage. He can put a stop to it, goodbye Department of Education.
Great. Kids are already stupid enough. I was at a church picnic this past summer and the youth group was selling food. The girl - about 14 - couldn’t make change for a $5. Good thing she was cute. God giveth, and God taketh away.
Me too, when I was in the classroom I always made up several tests with different problems and varied the order. Kids in class did not have any identical tests in adjacent seats. If a kid got a score that was not acceptable to them, they could have one of the other tests to take during lunch or on my prep period. Not many took advantage of this but it helped when someone was absent on a test day. I always felt this was fair. I did count homework as part of the grade and did not care if it was handed in late.
Maybe I was too easy, but I did not lower the grade bar.
