Mel Gibson for California governor? A poll has emerged citing him as a popular Republican candidate to run for the office although he has expressed zero interest in pursing it.
In a new Lost Coast Outpost poll formulated on Wednesday, Gibson emerges as a surprising third place and the top Republican candidate with 12 percent of the vote.
California Globe looked at the figures and surmised former Congresswoman Katie Porter now has a slight lead amongst all candidates, but the rest of the field is mixed:
According to the poll, which was a straight straw poll with no demographic data around it, Porter is now leading with a total of 25% of the vote. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who has led the last several polls with significant margins, fell to 20% in the poll, likely as a result of Porter recently announcing her official run for Governor, while Harris has said that her final decision on running is to come this summer.
In a surprising third place was actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson with 12%. Gibson, who has become a speculative candidate in recent weeks thanks to his opposition against both Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over their mismanagement of the Los Angeles fires in January, has yet to address a possible run for Governor.

Says He has 0 interest. Hope he changes his mind.
Mel Gibson is bipolar. Should be an advantage with the California voters.
Great actor and director but he has a lot of personal baggage the media would surely dredge up if he does run. If he runs I predict an early exit when the media turns up the heat.
If he paints half his face blue and grabs a sword to use it....he would get my vote!
Yeah, that dude definitely has a temper.
Because the last movie star governor was such a smashing success.
Didn’t he go on some drunken antisemitic rant several years ago? I remember at the time thinking, “I’m glad I’m not a celebrity… I would hate for my drunken rants be made public” Lol.

Yep. Gibson has done a few things that he would prefer be forgotten. Running for office would put them all back on the front page.
Now, if Gibson ran as a Democrat he might be okay.
🙂
California’s “cult of personality” once again rears it’s ugly head.
California republicans are desperate once again so they go for the flash. Think the Governator who wouldn’t support his Lt. Gov McLintock. Now you got a no-experience in politics rookie. I don’t think so. Even Larry Elder ran just for show. We didn’t even get a statement out of it.
Washington will have to clean up the voting here in Ca. Voting by mail is here to stay.
This enables him to see both sides of an argument. Maybe even argue both sides (for and against).
There is not a chance in hell.
I am a big fan of Mel Gibson. I think Gibson has an incredibly creative mind and is super keyed in on many important topics but he is objectively nuts.
He would not be a good candidate nor a good Governor.
But but Mel has never played a president.
He could win that bungle in the jungle primary and then beat Karamela … oh lawd Doug will be putting pig grease on his smacking hand on another election night!
I think Gibson is top notch because he knows who he is, stands up for what he believes, even though he knows he will take heat for it. You have to appreciate that.
The guy keeps on unafraid.
That said, I don’t think being a Governor is anything he ever speaks about being interested in.
When Gibson was ranting at that cop he was a deep alcoholic who had been sober for a very long period of time and that night had hit the bars and gotten blind drunk on tequila shooters, a big time blind drunk.
Anyone who knows alcoholics know that means he was totally insane that night, but his rant about the jews was also when he was under siege by Jewish Hollywood and media and the cop was Jewish.
It was ugly, but being in his alcoholic, first drunk in years (?), and drinking straight tequila means any kind of alcoholic rambling gibberish could have come out of his mind and mouth, space men, CIA killed John Wayne, anything.
I definitely respect him for his fearlessness.
I just think something broke in him when he went through his alcoholism and canceling. He is all over the place at this point. I have watched his 2 interviews on Rogan and he is incredibly interesting, extremely fierce and independent but also very broken.
(but his rant about the jews was also when he was under siege by Jewish Hollywood and media and the cop was Jewish.)
Mel Gibson exposed the Jew and their devious ways in Hollywood. They went after him. He stood up to them.
