More broadly, one network executive told features writer Charlotte Klein, "It's going to change everything" if Trump wins. The exec said it could signify the complete failure of the news industry.
"If half the country has decided that Trump is qualified to be president, that means they're not reading any of this media, and we’ve lost this audience completely. A Trump victory means mainstream media is dead in its current form," they said.

I couldn’t even say it better. A Trump win means a lot of things instantly change even before he takes office. It doesn’t mean the deep state and the media will roll over but the battle lines pits the people squarely against this pukes.

I read leftwing media - and often watch MSNBC - and I reject most of it because the writers are obviously living in liberal 'elite' bubbles and they're out of touch with about 85% of Americans.

They must return to their roots—they are there to MAKE MONEY. To do so they must produce a product people will buy. It must be something that the people believe or they become a tabloid like World Wide News with Bat-boy meets Bigfoot and Elvis is alive! At one time people were forced to read what was put out—or watch what the TV offered—Now they can select what they want. Get on board or and accept the new reality. Please recall that network TV is being replaced by streaming TV. Cable TV is in serious trouble as subscribers leave for the streaming internet programming.
The networks have established their own streaming TV channels but they are being rejected because..... lots of reasons.
The reality is that the networks are in trouble and have not actually developed a sure method for moving forward.
The cable news channels CNN and MSNBC are opperating at serious financial loss. They can’t generate enough viewers to attract bill paying advertisers. The major news papers Washington Post, New York Times and LA Timesw are all losers. They are all owned by politically motivated billionaires who are willing to absorb the loss.
The generation that reads newspapers and watches network TV is dying. Behind it, the Boomers are also beginning to die off as they age.
Change, irreversible change, is doing in the MSM.

We don’t actively watch, but we hear your nonsense, you don’t hear yourselves and how childishly pathetic you sound. At what point do they realize the “Trump is literally Hitler” narrative only turns people off and heightens the mental illness of the few?
They have a number of problems. First being that the vast majority of MSM broadcast outlets are all competing for the same left leaning audience. That is why Fox News is #1, their audience is not fragmented. Left leaning audience has 7-8 networks on the cable TV to chose from.
Their second problem is they are in a sort of doom loop captured by their audience. They report what their audience wants to hear. So they cannot grow and they cannot change. Look what happened to the WP for simply refusing to endorse a candidate - lost some 10% of their subscribers. So they have the option of changing and risk losing much of their current audience, or staying the same and bleeding them off over time. The best any one of them can do is steal from another ideological MSM outlet.
The third problem they have is that their medium is dying. Cable TV and print are way past their peak. People have been moving to other platforms/mediums for news and information. So again, they cannot grow their current model and most attempts to migrate have failed.
As to the question of their influence, well, their audience is already locked in and doesn’t need “convincing”. The people who watch or read them already agree with their views. Their opinions cannot reach any new people, they cannot move the needle precisely because they built programming that caters to the people who already believe as they do. The rest of the people aren’t going to tune in, so they cannot be convinced of anything they say or print.
