The Harris campaign is playing defense by recruiting thousands of lawyers to advise and support their election strategies around Election Day.
Democrats are bracing for former President Donald Trump’s campaign and allies to initiate legal battles over the 2024 election results if he loses, actions Republicans took following the 2020 election.
More than 400 lawyers have been hired to draft legal memos in preparation for possible litigation, according to the Wall Street Journal, with thousands of pages already filed. About 10,000 lawyers are also at the ready in crucial swing states with more specific knowledge of each state’s rules.
The Democratic National Committee spent nearly $22 million on lawyers this election cycle as of the summer, according to an analysis conducted by the outlet of recent federal campaign finance records.
Charged with leading the Harris legal team is Dana Remus, a former Biden White House counsel.
“It’s really just making sure we have systems in place—which we do—to monitor what Republicans are doing everywhere,” Remus told the newspaper. “As soon as they file a case, as soon as they start saying election results can’t be trusted, we are prepared to respond.”
So far, Republicans have been involved in 130 lawsuits in 26 states centered on election integrity issues to ensure that voter rolls are accurate. The question of election integrity is expected to be closely contested in the immediate days following Nov. 5.
In recent weeks, the GOP has lost some of its key lawsuits in its effort to maintain election integrity. Judges in Michigan and North Carolina rejected GOP lawsuits challenging the ability of some overseas U.S. citizens to vote. A federal judge also barred Virginia from purging names from voter rolls of noncitizens.
These people are evil and relentless.
What is a 1000 Democrat Lawyers at the bottom of the sea? A good start...
Historically, the Trial Lawyers groups have been the single largest donors to the Democrat Party. Big government is good for their business. If it becomes a battle of lawyers, we will be outnumbered 10-1.
Unrestricted Lawfare.
These lawyers need to go fight in Ukraine! Do it. For the children.
I keep thinking that Elon will step up to the “Bar” with support for lawyers on Trumps behalf...and for the American people
10,000 lawyers.
Send lawyers guns and money.
One more step in the dissolution of “a peaceful transition of power”.
The rich have flipped to the dems, once 70-30 rep. now 70-30 dem. (according to RFK Jr.)
When it was rep. the lib media cried foul...now absolute crickets on the subject.
For the RAT party it’s all about power by any means necessary. For the Republicuck party it’s about not making waves.
“Republicuck”...yeeeouch... that’s gonna leave a mark!
“The more corrupt the state the more numerous the laws’’.- Tacitus.
Democrats, remember this when Trump wins.
Sharks never attack lawyers.
Professional courtesy.
Just the Code of Federal Regulations now runs to 200,000 pages. Adding to this JUST the Tax Code and referenced documents runs into 75,000 pages. Just two EPA rulings from this year added nearly 1,400 pages to the CFR. Convince me this government is not out of control. Convince me we actually need all these regulations. Is what was there so imperfect, so dated and so incomplete to require congress and agencies to continuously add new laws and regulations at a breakneck pace? I hardly think so.
USA has 10 times lawyers per capita than Japan and EU. But I will not say anything bad about lawyers since my daughter is a lawyer.
See post #17.
Did you hear story of a lawyer who moved to a small town which had no lawyers. But he was not getting much business. Then another lawyer came to town. Then both lawyers prospered.
Research scientists doing behavioral experiments have switched from using lab rats to using lawyers. True, they're more expensive upkeep.
But there are some things a lab rat simply refuses to do.
But snakes can’t be lawyers because they don’t have arms to carry a brief case.
