All Americans should be 'outraged' over Mayorkas' comments on lack of FEMA funds, says Florida AG Moody
Fox News ^ | Oct. 3, 2024 | Fox News Staff

Even though states across the southeastern U.S. are still reeling from Hurricane Helene's destructive path, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) "does not have the funds" to get through hurricane season. On "Fox & Friends First" on Thursday, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody shredded the secretary over the comments, pointing out the more than $1 billion spent on migrants.

ASHLEY MOODY: Everyone should be waking up this morning outraged by that comment. This is not something that has just happened recently. And Florida's been warning about this since this administration took over. Mayorkas has come in like a virus and infected what need[s] to be healthy, strong, fundamental programs to ensure the stability and safety of Americans in times of disaster.

There was no legal or rational basis or legitimate reason for this massive theft of funds that has now left deserving Americans hanging out to dry and, with many of them dying because of it. Mayorkas should be prosecuted for embezzlement.

I dont understand.

We dont have the funds for ANYTHING.

We are 35 trillion dollars in debt.

What we are deciding here is what is worth printing more money for.

US disasters are at the top of the list!!

Stopping ilegals, not HELPING them, should be at the top of the list.

I wont bring up the Ukraine money spent because opinions seem very divided here.

But for goodness’ sake, get the hurrican victims what they need!

Why aren’t the FL, GA, NC AG’s filing charges against Mayorkas? The left would be doing this against any Republican appointment.

“the more than $1 billion spent on migrants”

I would imagine that FEMA had the legal authority given by Congress to spend that money in the manner that it was.

Countries whose residents can get (Temporary Protected Status) TPS status:

Afghanistan 41 million
Burma (Myanmar) 55 million
Cameroon 31 million
El Salvador 6 million
Ethiopia 110 million
Haiti 11 million
Honduras 9 million
Nepal 30 million
Nicaragua 6 million
Somalia 18 million
South Sudan 12 million
Sudan 50 million
Syria 24 million
Ukraine 35 million
Venezuela 28 million
Yemen 34 million

compiled based on Internet queries and:
https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/temporary-protected-status

That adds up to about 500 million people.

“The Shelter and Services Program (SSP) is administered by the FEMA in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). SSP provides financial support to non-federal entities to provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The intent is to support CBP in the safe, orderly and humane release of noncitizen migrants from short-term holding facilities.”

https://www.fema.gov/grants/shelter-services-program

“Congress has recognized that local governments and nonprofit organizations often bear the financial and social
burden resulting from an influx of migrants. In FY2019, Congress first enacted legislation authorizing the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide grants to supplement the humanitarian relief efforts of local
government and nonprofit organizations assisting migrants encountered by DHS at the southern border, including
through the provision of food, shelter, basic medical care, and transportation. These grants to support migrants
were provided through FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP)-Humanitarian or EFSP-H.

“In FY2023, Congress directed CBP and FEMA to establish a new Shelter and Services Program (SSP) to replace
the EFSP-H. The EFSP-H continued to operate while FEMA and CBP worked to establish the new SSP. FEMA
and CBP have stated that the plan is to phase out the EFSP-H. DHS/FEMA made the first tranche of SSP funding
available in June 2023 and made the second tranche of SSP funding available in August 2023.”

You clearly don’t understand the goals of FEMA. On their website they list three goals that helps understand their priorities. Goal 1 is equity and diversity, set in response an executive order by Biden when he first took office. Goal 3 addresses response to emergencies. Check it out for yourself. Beyond FEMA, that is slowly becoming a worthless entity for emergency response, the Biden administration and the congress has set many priorities above those of American citizens. And, needless to say our government is already in serious debt and has no source of funds but to put us further in debt, taxed mostly through the most insidious tax of all called inflation. And, the near $40 trillion debt is only the short-term debt based on single year cash accounting. The long-term real debt if all future liabilities are considered using accrual accounting is more like $170 trillion. If someone knows better, feel free to set me straight.

> What do you want us to do? <

I share your somber outlook. We do not have the media on our side. And we don’t have the GOP elite on our side. Those are two huge disadvantages. About all we can reasonably do is vote Trump, and work for conservative local candidates.

I really don’t know how this will play out. Today’s Democrats are nothing like the Democrats of years ago. Today’s Democrats are radicals. Will they eventually inflict so much pain on the country that folks will wake up?

Thanks!! I was having trouble finishing this bottle of JD :)

You just made it easy!

Friend, I have no words anymore.

How did this happen? I was 12 when The Great One who would bring down the Berlin Wall won election.

How could a country fall so far so quickly?
