Stricter COVID-19 restrictions could have saved hundreds of thousands of lives in the states that refused to institute them, though efforts to close nursing homes and schools likely caused more harm than good, a new study has found.
Between 118,000 and 248,000 more Americans would have survived the pandemic if all states had followed some restrictions practiced in Northeastern states, according to findings published Friday in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
The most effective responses were mask mandates and vaccine requirements, the JAMA study found.
“COVID-19 restrictions saved lives,” the researchers wrote.
“The death toll was probably considerably higher than it would otherwise have been in states that resisted imposing these restrictions, banned their use, or implemented them for only relatively short periods of time.”

They’re counting all the ventilator deaths as COVID and people are still dying from vax. related issues, so the numbers aren’t all in yet.
Propaganda B.S.
I cover science, the climate, and the state of Texas for The Hill, with a particular focus on the state’s water politics and oil and gas industry. I also co-write our weekly Sustainability newsletter, which seeks to go beyond the day-to-day energy to uncover tomorrow’s questions around resources, land and energy.
I’m a native of Texas, where I attended UT Austin and got my start as a reporter at The Texas Observer covering topics ranging from very bad doctors to the rise of the fracking industry, which changed the state’s energy landscape almost beyond recognition.
Before coming to The Hill, I spent more than a decade as a freelance magazine reporter filing from place (sic) like Southeast Asia, the Amazon Basin, and the American West on the costs and conflicts that underlie the global economy — a perspective that informs my daily coverage at The Hill.
Was I the “you” you were referring to in that post?
This is a controversial study getting a lot of talk in the airborne virus community.
But the problem isn’t really with the data.
The problem is with “stricter”. People actually went through a lot to avoid contracting COVID. In its pre- Spring 2021 form, avoiding it was quite reasonable.
But, what’s “stricter” than closing the ocean and filling in skate parks with sand? Shoot on sight if the mask doesn’t fit?
New study-—Millions of lives would have been saved if governments didn’t lie to the American people and citizens around the world!!!
Lockdowns should have only occurred in 65 and older and morbidly obese people....at most!
that is crazy...just watched a video from a British doctor saying the exact opposite...
with the stats to back up what he said.
So how come pres. birdbrain has had covid 3 times? Vaccines worked really well, right? Maybe that’s why he’s turned into a veggie so fast, one too many shots of who knows what.

Ha. JAMA. Lol. Owned and operated by Big Pharma. There should be a RICO prosecution.
Sounds like something Carnac the Magnificent would have suggested.
Shameless liars seeking to assert control over Americans by scaremongering.
2020 was our first full year in our new house. I spent a great deal outside modifying the landscape the house builder had provided. Thankfully, here in Central Texas, places with plant nurseries weren't shut down. That interest in outdoor gardening has continued to the present.
The CDC Is BIG Mad at Their Own Scientists for Proving Masks (Even N95) Don't Work 02/08/2024 8:50:28 PM PST · by E. Pluribus Unum · 20 repliesTwitchy ^ | 3:50 PM on February 08, 2024 | justmindy
The CDC is very mad at the CDC for finding out N95 masks are as useless as surgical masks. Also, the CDC is planning on punishing its own scientists for discovering what a whole lot of people already knew.
Masks Don't Work: A review of science relevant to COVID-19 social policy 05/06/2020 11:04:46 AM PDT · by BurgessKoch · 63 repliesResearch Gate ^ | April 2020 | Denis G. Rancourt, PhD
The present paper about masks illustrates the degree to which governments, the mainstream media, and institutional propagandists can decide to operate in a science vacuum or select only incomplete science that serves their interests. Such recklessness is also certainly the case with the current global lockdown of over 1 billion people, an unprecedented experiment in medical and political history.

@ChadPergram GOP KY Sen Paul on Fox: Cloth masks don’t work..Half of the country is running around with Fauci wearing a bunch of cloth masks all over his face saying they work. When in reality, he knows they don’t work and it’s about civility. Submission @ChadPergram GOP KY Sen Paul on Fox on push to wear masks among those who have been vaccinated: Show me the evidence. Show me the proof, you know, show me that people are transmitting this who have gotten vaccinated. And there is no proof of that.
Robbery suspects love mask mandates.
Sounds like more garbage from the IMCU (Institute for Making Crap Up).
We were assured that orders to hide under our beds would save lives.
“Says new study”? I thought they were supposed to say “new study finds”. There’s always a new study.
Studies that are scientific say otherwise. Science says otherwise. One could not ask for any better proof that this is not a real news publication. It is the communist Hill. And it is their to destroy the country.
Lie.
Getting rid of these political actors would save far more lives.
