Local police encountered attempted-assassin Thomas Crooks just moments before he tried to kill former president Donald Trump — but failed to stop the gunman despite the clear threat, according to a report.
After rallygoers spotted Crooks on the roof of a manufacturing plant just 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, police were notified and one officer climbed a ladder to investigate, law enforcement officials said on the condition of anonymity.
There the officer encountered Crooks, who pointed his AR-style rifle at them.
The officer then backed down the ladder, and Crooks immediately took aim and loosed eight shots at the former president – grazing him in the ear, killing one bystander in the rally crowd, and gravely wounding two others.

Why would the officer climb the ladder? Investigate? If he’s on the roof with a rifle at a Trump rally, shoot first, ask questions later.
As others have asked, just who is this “officer“? But for all its faults, the New York Post will usually report the facts about government corruption. As will the UK papers.
So if the whole truth ever comes out about the shooting, it will come from them and not from CBS, etc.
What I want to know is why the Secret Service wasn’t on top of that roof.

I am still waiting for all of the other shooting conspiracies over the past 40 years to come to fruition.
If an officer went up a ladder, their voice would be on tapes of the radio communications. You would think the guys who saw the shooter would have mentioned it in their interviews.
I am somewhat skeptical.
It doesn’t say they were from Butler, PA. When I have been to Trump rallies there were police from other jurisdictions.
Often rallies are out in the countryside so they have to bring in more police from elsewhere.
They were told the guy on the roof had a gun. Climbing up the ladder without their gun drawn as if they were checking on a cat stuck in a tree is inexcusable

Correct. The average cop only finds his courage after he's got the black guy down and handcuffed, and he can kneel on his throat in perfect safety. Prior to that, not so much.
Probably was ordered to back out. SS already had him in their sights. Officer was a distraction and may very well be why the sniper was slow on the trigger.
