Local police encountered attempted-assassin Thomas Crooks just moments before he tried to kill former president Donald Trump — but failed to stop the gunman despite the clear threat, according to a report.
After rallygoers spotted Crooks on the roof of a manufacturing plant just 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, police were notified and one officer climbed a ladder to investigate, law enforcement officials said on the condition of anonymity.
There the officer encountered Crooks, who pointed his AR-style rifle at them.
The officer then backed down the ladder, and Crooks immediately took aim and loosed eight shots at the former president – grazing him in the ear, killing one bystander in the rally crowd, and gravely wounding two others.

My son as a Marine rifleman renewed his expert badge by shooting a perfect score at 500 yards with iron sights. As far as I am concerned that should be a minimum perimeter.

If this is true, then the two agents stage right also were witnesses to this action.
This removes any doubt that they could have thought that gunman on the roof was one of theirs.
So why did they watch this happen and fire only after the fact?

Are you trying to say that the assassin had a box of Krisy Kreme doughnuts with him on the roof and threw them over the edge of the roof near the cop to distract him/her?
The eyewitness who filmed the shooter on the roof was just on Fox. He said the policeman climbed the side of the building (No Ladder) and was holding on from the roof and he just fell down to the ground after the perp aimed at him. He made no mention of a ladder and clearly said the cop climbed the side of the building. Cop couldn’t neutralize perp because he was hanging from the roof, he dropped to ground when perp spotted him.

But the guy who shot the footage of the perp on the roof that TMZ had first said the cop did not climb a ladder, but climbed up he side of building, then he dropped to the ground. Cop couldn’t shot the guy since he was hanging from the roof edge.
He never said that the perp didn’t climb a ladder, just that the policeman did not.

The more I hear about this, the worse it looks for the cop. Or like they need to tell us—now—that they knew he was up there. Still makes the whole thing stink, IMHO.
The BBC eyewitness said he tried for 2 or three minutes to get the attention of Agents. Other eyewitnesses did the same.
Up the ladder, punkazzbitch threatens to shoot you. Don’t you duck down, pop back up and shoot at him? Distract him or take him out.... unless you are a coward.

Where is the recorded radio traffic from this cop broadcasting, “SHOOTER ON ROOF”?
That would only take 2 seconds.
I am always prepared to give LEOs the benefit of the doubt, but this looks bad.
